The missus has a Range Rover Vogue as her company car but as its the petrol engined one the running costs are ridiculous - it returned 9.1mpg going to Bristol the other week! Because of this she's still got her personal car which she uses day to day which is a Fiesta Zetec S; its becoming uneconomical to run with things starting to go wrong.
Does anyone have any experience with Freelanders; particlarly looking at 04/05 Facelift models of the last shape; TD4 and with the half leather interior.
Found a lovely petrol blue one for £7k

Good car, my mum and I share an 05 3 door, never skipped a beat except it's a bit gutless low down, needs to be revved to get going.
My mate is selling an 04 HSE actually, full leather and the body kit, I'll put you in touch if you want a look.

Drove a TD4 last year, lovely motor to drive, facelift one is a must though, early interiors suck.

Is she keeping the RR with a freelander as the second car or replacing both it and the fiesta?
Freelander will feel crap inside compared to the RR won't it?

mum and dad had a 53 reg and was nothing but trouble. had it fixed at the james edwards local dealer, had a bill for 2k come back. a day later after we got it back it was still the same and wasnt fixed. we refused to pay the £2000 bill as the car was unsafe to drive due to the engine problem. was a nice car but every td4 we have had as gone wrong whether it is a freelander or a disco.

I cant see how a Landrover is economical? Parts, fuel, tax, insurance - all expensive!

You worry too much pow. People are always in different situations, which is why they choose the car they choose.
They're lovely to drive, but are a guzzler.

Mine is OK when you get going but I hate having to ride the clutch to pull out of junctions, particularly when towing. Stalls well too easy.

my mum has a freelander (on a y plate all be it)
Has been very good to her apart from needing 4 injectors recently at a cost of over £1K
she has a Diesel (the bmw engine apparently) and has done over 40k in it in two years

The Freelander is to replace the Fiesta - The Range Rover is a company/hotel car which she can use personally but has to pay for any none work related mileage - not 100% sure on how it works; but because it only does 7-18mpg it just isn't useful/practical as a day to day car.
The fiesta is probably returning 30ish mpg but as it gets older more and more things are going wrong or needing replacement so I'm trying to convince her to get the Freelander as it'll be a far more suitable car especially given where she actually has to drive it day in day out.
Ian, we're going up to the lakes this weekend; If I manage to convince her that its a good plan, I'll drop you a u2u on Monday for his details

Every hotel in the chain has either a Range Rover Vogue or a Bentley Anarge (iirc) - The hotels are around £300 (minimum) per night and a merc sprinter van just wouldn't look right sat outside tbh.
In all fairness its a bloody useful vehicle to have given the hotel's very remote locations and image

My dad has a 53 plate Freelander, 18 months ago it had a new fuel pump, then that pump failed 2 weeks ago, so had another one fitted. Then this week it was running really rough, so off back to Landrover it went, they had it 3 days and finally figured out it was a problem with 2 injectors. Had them fitted and now it's back. Thankfully it was all done under warranty, would have been a big bill otherwise.
My advice is to get something other than a Freelander! Interiors are crap, it has the same doorpulls as my mum's old Austin Maestro for godsake! It's an old design there are far, far better cars out there for the money.
