Well I have now owned two Corsas and am looking for my next car.
The first was an immaculate 1999 1.0 12v Trip with only 44k on the clock. Couple of photos:

The second was an absolutely shagged C16 GSi. Dick head here got it as an impulse buy, didn't check it over and got metaphorically raped.
Couple of photos:

Having experienced the performance and the electrics of the C16 - albeit with a slipping clutch - I quite liked it. I also liked the economy of the 3cyl but not the fact it took about 30 seconds to build up to 70 on the motorway and the poverty specification.
I guess I'm after a bit of luxury mixed with some performance but still a bit economical, what would you recommend for me?
Thank you kindly please.

How much have you got to spend?
Diesel would seem the obvious suggestion for good economy and relatively good performance.

Sorry, not with it tonight had a bit too much champers.
Budget of about £2000 for the motor.
No NCB, but anything under insurance group 10 is fine for me.
Wanting another Corsa, but not really a diesel. Just an engine that when I put my foot down will respond well, but if I tickle the throttle will potter along all day long having a lickle drink from the tank.

I'm not a fan of the Corsa C with owning two B models now. I know what looks good on Bs, and I feel comfortable in them too. Driven a C before and it wasn't right for me even though it was a 1.8 SRi. Rapid that thing but just not for me!

So would a 1.4 Sport be quiet economical then? I know they have electrics and a nice interior space. Does anyone know what insurance group they are? I don't trust Parkers, have given so much false information in the past!

1.6 sport would be a better bet, or a a tigra if you prefer the coupe style.
Performance and economy are 2 things that dont go hand in hand, you get one or the other im afraid. a 1.6 engine is still going to return 30-35mpg around town so i shouldnt fret too much.
Other options are saxo vts, 106 gti, fiesta zetec s.

Thank you Pridzz, I'll take that into consideration.
30-35 is the type of figure I was expecting really. I'm sure a good service would help running costs reduce slightly.
Saxos aren't my thing either, drove a couple and they didn't excite me.. plus nearly died as a passenger in a 106 with a GTi lump.

Being immobilised neck down in Blackburn Hospital for the night wasn't exactly fun, nor were the resulting injuries and now mental implications.

Has the insurance groups gone up or something? As when I last checked, 1.4 was group 5, and the 1.6 was group 9.
Oh, and try and get a 1.6 16v. Buy the 1.4, tune it all you want and you wont get the power of the 1.6.

1.6 Sport is 10E now I believe?
1.4 Sport keeps getting mentioned now, but so does a 1.6.. will take a look at both engine sizes and get a few opinions off friends with Sports.
Thanks folks.
