so what do you prefer?

just reading through the GTR thread..

a ridiculously quick car, but is it really a drivers car? Ive seen a GTR at santa pod, i dont see the point when youve got launch control! sure its fast, but whats the point, the whole point of drag racing is learning to start properly etc..

Just seems all modern cars and designed to take you away from the driving experience completely.. TCS, ABS, everything, you just do the minimal amount of work..

So what do you prefer?

A proper drivers car like a caterham etc

or something like a GTR or an evo 10?

Drivers car...

Hence why a XE/LET corsa is so much fun. Utter bonkers on the road for a small car, you have to really work it. Even though they handle like a boat.

Caterhams etc offer the most rewarding experience. Computers aid saftey and speed, but nothing like knowing your doing the work and not a fancy diff/computer.

I hate relying on technology.
Also if you have the skills to do the job properly yourself, why not take full controll and have more fun in the process.

One of the main reasons I prefer old cars, new cars are nothing but technology. Old, raw cars is where it's at.

Most techy thing I've experienced is ABS, I had a passenger ride in an Evo 6 Tommi Makinen a few years back and was shocked by the grip of the thing but how it'd be to drive I'm not so sure.

I'd love a TVR at some point tho so I'd say drivers

I like new cars with loads of gadgets.

I don't think of old cars as having a better driving experience, they just don't feel as good to drive.

I wish you had that option with hookers

I prefer driving without technology usually, but i have to say that evos are a hoot to drive on the roads - Yeah you have electronic aids etc, but if you are already an able and capable driver the aids only help you go faster still. and the speeds you can acheive on B roads are actually pretty damn scary! But on track aids dont really help, and you never ever beat good old mechanical grip and 50/50 weight distribution

The only things i hate are traction control, smg gearbox's and over aggressive ABS.

Technology for every day driving. Its good to get back to basics sometimes though!!

I miss my old mk2 GTi for its no thrills driving.

Well it had powersteering but that was about the only driving aid!!

Awesomeness

Bit of both for me! If I can only have one car (like now) then I prefer not to be battling with it all the time especially when im just nipping to Tesco's with the little un!

Weekend toy.........the opposite, like my old Tuscan!

I wouldn't say traction control and ABS was techy, I would active diffs and automatic stability control was techy, like in evos, you just throw them into corners, get a bit of understeer, then it sorts itself and your away, no skill there.

I must admit, I'm happier when I've got no ABS, TCS, Power steering etc.
