Impressive all the same though
A no expense spared detail to a Ferrari F40:
http://www.detailingworld.co.uk/forum/showthread.php?t=127530
Pretty impressive imo, but the owner must have waaaaaaaaaaay too much money!
EDIT: Maybe not as impressive now I've bothered to read it rather than skim read. My bad! Now cue the debate!

Well yes he must have some just to buy it, never mind the extensive work

Yeh all Swissvax is expensive Is in general very good stuff though. In regards to price, I haven't got a clue, but being based in Monaco, I'd imagine he can charge a fair few thousand euros lol.

is it wrong to be not impressed at the fact he just sprays buts matt black ? if it were mine, i would be doing something else other than having some bloke mask the rear lamps up and spray it like that

It's the one bit I'm not sure on as well tbh, yet it's becoming increasingly popular throughout the high end detailing lot. It seems a bit of a bodge to me if I'm totally honest

Indeed. That is massively shit.
When I think of the sort of treatment J18 gets, it seems especially wrong that an exceptional car like an F40 is getting rattle canned to death by some strange lad.

I spray bits on my Ibiza matt black, must have supercar roots
Wonder what the cost of the 'detail' was vs the increased value?

In the case of an F40, I genuinely don't know - could go 2 ways tbh:
A lot as it made a good example even tidier OR
Barely anything and was more just peace of mind for the owner as it'll now be easier to maintain etc.
On a normal car, a well maintained, freshly detailed car can fetch between £600 and £1k more over a shoddy version in resale value.

Now that's a detailing thread
I do agree that spraying parts is a bit random, but how else were those bits going to be made to look new again? With the amount of paint that was missing in the arches, imo the only real option was to spray them. And with the rear metal bit, if it was rusty then the paint needs to come off to get the rust off, therefore paint must go back on.

I thought this too. And it may just be he quality of the pics but it doesn't look as good as the results I've seen from Rich and Murray's brother...

The paintwork doesn't look all that after the detail?! Looks fairly average if I'm being honest
Like Ash says seen much much better from others!

He's taken some bits off and sprayed them black and given it a machine polish.
I was expecting much, much more from a 'no expense spared' detail.

Exactly. If bits needed painting I'd have expected them to be taken off and sent away to be redone properly. Wouldn't be surprised if that lot flakes off the first time a lance hits it again.
I don't get what took over a fortnight to do.

I can see where some of you are coming from in a lot of ways. I agree that a no expense spared detail really should have seen those parts being professionally resprayed, not just given the once over with a spray can.
I do fail to see how a lot of detailers take as long as they claim to in a lot of cases anyway, 2 weeks does seem quite extreme. I do know that polishing the plexiglass engine cover would have taken a hell of a long time alone, but other than that, I can't comment
And thanks for the huge compliment too!!

I thought there might have been more pics, Blukoos brothers posts have far more and a much better write up, love the car though.

I'm off to Monaco to detail cars if that's the pinnacle of talent out there.

This made me a bit too:
quote: There was no need to wash the car as it had been covered in a garage
But it's been DRIVEN to the detailers, and surely even with a cover, there is still some buildup of contaminants in a garage? I'd have washed it, including the engine bay too - may have loosened off that dirt in there that was so ingrained.

Exactly what i was thinking Ash. Hell, my car is kept under a cover but i still wash it even if its clean first
Pretty poor considering it was "no expenses spared"

The problem with F40's is no matter how much you detail them the build quality is that rough they still look like a kit car built in a shed lol. Some good work but an F40 will never come up with a show car finish.
