Hiii
I tried to open my car door using the button and it is not working. And it hasn't since I got it [which was less than a week ago]; the previous owner didn't say anything either. Will it just need a replacement battery inside the key or do you think i should buy a replacement from peugeot?
Heres a picture of the key:

Also! On better news, I was talking to my mates mum and she said her husband will get me a pug 306 handbrake and install it for me for just £50! Which is a lot less than I expected!
What you think?

And no, i am not welsh! before you ask! if you notice the other keyring

Hnadbrake, try it yourself - it's a glorified version a bike brake.

Does the red light come on if you press the button?
It's probably the battery so try that first, but could be a dodgy button.

It won't even be £5.

If you need a new key, you can get a new key from eBay for a lot less, and then you can just reprogram it yourself.

Thanks!
But there are no prices for this key that you talk of.

It will just be the battery. You can buy a replacement case for the key, then you get new buttons etc.

http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/PEUGEOT-306-TWO-BUTTON-KEY-FOB-CASE-NEW-ORIGINAL-ITEM_W0QQitemZ220387661843QQcmdZViewItemQQptZUK_CarsParts_Vehicles_CarParts_SM?hash=item335020d813&_trksid=p3286.c0.m14&_trkparms=65%3A12|66%3A2|39%3A1|72%3A1689|293%3A1|294%3A50

The key blade itself unscrews from the case, put it into the new one and off you go. The key might need reprogrammed for the IR receiver, but its very easy, theres a few guides around the internet.

Theres a guide on there somewhere for reprogramming the key if it needs it, but just try first after you change the battery, it might not need reprogrammed.

That's just the top half of the case. If the actual insides need replacing, you'll need this:
http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/PEUGEOT-306-TWO-BUTTON-KEY-FOB-CASE-NEW-ORIGINAL-ITEM_W0QQitemZ220387661843QQcmdZViewItemQQptZUK_CarsParts_Vehicles_CarParts_SM?hash=item335020d813&_trksid=p3286.c0.m14&_trkparms=65:12|66:2|39:1|72:1689|293:1|294:50

edit: Yeah, try reprogramming the key you've already got if it doesn't work after a new battery.

There's a cycle shop/general stores round my way that does stuff like that, can get cell batteries for pocket change. He does bulbs and everything, any sort of general parts etc. You're a bit far away though

The point is, see if you can find out if there's anywhere like that near you, they're invaluable resources that we don't want to lose

UPDATE:
bought the battery, not working!
Hmm...not even a bit of light coming from it. Perhaps it might just be broken!

Might have to stick to using the key to get in eh?
Until I have actually got the rest of the car done to roadworthy standard lmao!

Keys on the 306's are quite prone to not working iirc.

Check out pug306.net for more advice I suppose
