Hi all,
Had a real shitty day the other day. Only passed my test two weeks ago and am really starting to get some enjoyment out of my car that was sitting on my drive for a year before i passed. Had to drive to Sutton Coldfield for work, first proper motorway expiereince. That went sound came off the motorway and some twat in a BMW just shot out to the left of me on the mini roundabout without lookin sod was on his phone, brakes locked up but i managed to stop literally about 10cm from him. prat.
Anyways after that little shock i parked my car up at 9am and came back to it at 1:30 pm,as i walked around the corner my blood boiled to find some prick has gone into my car and driven off leaving me with a caved in panel with loads of paint taken off and the arch scuffed and seperated from the body. Checked aroun and couldn't see any cars close with any damage and no note was left. Went back into work to report it and the guys on security told me to walk out to my car and they will follow me on the camera so they can find my car. Walked up to find in the 5 mins i was insdie some saint had left me the reg of the car that hit me and the make, Its a sooty van daihatsu hijet!! Took that and the cctv down the police sation and they have got him, Hes insured so shouldnt be a problem there. The poilice are pissed because he left the scene. I havent seen the footage but the cheeky bastard hit my car saw what he had done and went and parked elswhere and did his shoppin. Makes me sick people do this to your car then just piss off. I wanna ring the bastards neck, Id be fine if he had grown a set and left me his details just pisses me off that he fucked off after he knew what he had done!
Anyone else ever had similar trouble? If so how long do you think itl take for his insurance to cough up?

Sorry to hear that fella, but least you got the details
I'd imagine you'd need the CCTV to prove who hit who etc as the van driver could easily turn around and say "he hit me" and with no initial CCTV the insurers would prob do 50/50

rite rite
just spoke to them on the phone, wierd you should say this because they have just told me to get some qoutes to see how much itas going to cost. Now i was wondering is the total cost of the repair the cost of fixing the side+ the cost of the hire of the car?
e.g would it be say 400 to fix the car +200 to hire the car so my total could be 600?
That how it works? if so id rather feckin walk tbh.

What have the police said?
Get his insurance details and speak to his insurance, don't spend anything of your own.

some woman drove into my focus after she realised she couldn't overtake me and a learner.
she drove off without leaving details, i had to fill in a huge report form and give it to the police, but because she was tax and insured, the police didn't want to know.
i had a witness too.
pile of shit the police are mate, really not worth the effort. much better teaching the prick a lesson by slashing his tyres without any cctv around

they wont, hire charges are a seperate element of the claim. i just recovered £4k of hire charges today on a claim for repairs to an £800 car
