I think I want one and I know a few people on here have/had them. Anything I should be looking out for/common faults etc?

Is there a Clio equivalent of Corsasport?

A lot of the ones i've been looking at have about 50k on the clock, going for anywhere between 4 and 7k. I'll have a look on Cliosport as I'm guessing theres loads of threads like this!

They are built from kit kat wrappers and blu tac, although they will do 0-60 in 7 seconds you'll be bored to tears getting there, absolutely nothing under 4k, seating position is shocking, clutch is terrible (general feel, not just the fact it's stupidly heavy), steering wheel gets aids, parts are fairly expensive and the engine is difficult to work on.

They are fast round a track though if that's your thing.

Personally i think that's bollocks. Mine never rattled or anything, i live 2 miles from work yet did 16k in 14 months. It just made you want to jump in it and drive it! seating position you get used to and i'm 6ft 3.

The fact you think your fabia vrs is more fun says it all really John

Edit - bought mine on 53k sold it on 76k i think

The fabia felt like it was going faster even though it was slightly slower, I really don't see how that 'says it all'.

It would have been slower round a track yes, since i've never been near a track though they were on par in real life, on par on a wee blast that is, everything else the fabia was far superior.

So your saying whilst on a blast the fabia is on par with a Clio sport

That again says it all, yes your VAG car might be built better, but i had a 210bhp ibiza, built better yes, all other fields failed miserably. straight line was quick for the short power band, change of direction was like a barge and this had nearly 3.8k thrown at it.

There's no point me getting into it because every single one of these threads is the same, that's my opinion on them and that's it.

Exactly, this is why my 170bhp fabia with double the torque felt faster (was faster apart from from a standstill), and that along with the added build quality made it a much better car.

Mine was the only 172 in the world that wasn't built very well apparently.

I've only ever driven a 172, was ok, a fun little car. Good for the money, as John said the build quality is shocking really, so much plastic inside and generally looking cheap and nasty. I'd have 1 in a heartbeat though just for the fun factor.

People get me wrong, they do what they say on the tin, that's just miles off what I want from a car.

They are fun if you like high revving shit engines.

i think some people forget they like different things from a car!

i have a 200bhp 365lbft torque jetta which is ace, feels fast etc, but then my clio is much more fun to drive, more chuckable etc. on track or for fun, id pick the clio, its a renault so dont expect german built quality, parts are expencive if you mention its for a 182 or what ever but they are the same as a lower base model most of the time.

for long motorway cruises etc, jetta wins.

what do you want the car for, fun or comfort?

The reason I was looking at getting one is they looked like pretty decent bang for the buck. I'm fully aware the build quality isn't going to be amazing but they're not designed for that as far as I'm aware!

I can't say I really fancy a Skoda
