And as i have not crashed/fucked up my 1st car,

Just asking if any one has ever driven one?

Nice cars, just get one with a 6-speed box as it's stronger than the 5 speed in the Lupo & Polo GTi's
0-60 is 7.9 seconds, 127mph so just a touch quicker to 60 than the Polo.
Driving position is hard to get perfect and takes a lot of fiddling to get right.
But I love the Polo, it could do with a few more ponies top end of the rev range but I'm thinking of stripping it out to give it a bit more poke.
Things to look out for are whining gearbox, wheel bearings, usual VW electrical gremlins.

The only problem I had was that I couldn't get the seat back far enough

Pedals aren't close, they could do with being a bit lower though.

Been browsing the forums and they seem a safe car, people are saying there still decent at 90K
not likeing the cost off some things tho ...
"I you are buying an older one, or any for that fact, it's likely to be due a cambelt service - £400 from my VW specialist, £700 from VW and then the Xenons will be nearer to replacememt. Standard rear section of the exhaust is £270+ VAT from VW...

That's bullshit. Cambelt isn't £400 quid and why get it done by VW or a specialist, never a £400 job.
Why replace with standard? Get a Powerflow rear section.

The price of front discs £120 front pads £50 rear discs £100 rear pads £40.
Also the tyre size is 205/45/15 and only three people made them at £100 each but ive just found ones for £58 a tyre. They are amazing little cars, very nippy for 120 bhp ish. Get it in silver or black

upon that get the parts yourself from "German and Swedish" they will be much cheaper but the prices above are what a garage will try to charge....

i'm a huge fan of lupo gtis and have been for a while, they hold their money very very well.
gti handles like a proper go-cart on coilovers, a very good car but for the same money other alternatives are tempting...

you've answered the question i was going to ask you... lol
if insurance is a big factor then it's a very good bet - although something like a fabia vrs might be an alternative, get more car for your money etc...

Ibizas are usually good on insurance. I got a quote of 800quid (18, 1ncb) for a 130hp diesel sport (same as in fabia VRs)

personally, i would always go for fully comp, £2000 for 3rd party sounds like a joke!

I had one when i was 18, owned it for a couple of years, loved it. Had it on coilovers and drove like it was on rails. Had to have the chassis leg cut for anthing lower than 50mm or the driveshaft knocks on it.
Good reliability and build quality, finding one with the toeing eye cover on the front bumber can be a pain a lot have high mileage now and the low milers have held their money very well.
Nippy, with a BMC airfilter and Cat back they breathe a lot easier as they seem to be quite restricted. Also the starer motor tends to go on these, loud squeek on startup, replaced mine £100.
