400bhp from just slapping on a different turbo and a manifold and remap... I'd take the second one personally, seems to be a bit less, cowboy for some reason

And the engine themselves have roughly the same power std as the old 2.0 block, but a good bit more bottom end torque. Prodrive were having a nightmare trying to tune the thing to begin with though as it kept melting pistons! I'd stick with the tried and tested 2.0 personally, but I'm slightly biased towards the noise

Edit: Never saw the thid one, that's nice too!

That's the way I feel, I heard you can get an un-equal length exhaust manifold to get the noise back?

Well that's where the noise comes from, so if there are aftermarket unequal headers then aye, the noise will return!

i plan to slide a 2.5 in to mine when the redtop 2.0 goes.

I'll do it with a built closed deck EJ257 though.

The standard 2.5 EJ257 will be great on a road car..... more torque, more power

They arent soft atal tbh, its the way you look after them , thats why scoobys have a bad name for themselfs as people dont look after them wack the boost up on them and expect things to go all fine and dandy.

ours was services ect and had a hard time like most of our cars get and it never missed a beat,

They can be good engines/cars if looked after by the right person

a high reving closed deck 2.0 would be fun.... but i cant see why a decent built 2.5 would be any worse.

A closed deck STi 2.0 would be better than open run of the mill 2.5 if going for more than standard power.

more power, more torque and quicker turbo spool.
if you do get one just make sure its been done properly as older scoobs are money pits if they have been neglected.
3drs are the only one id own though 5drs are way too common.

There is something subtle about them that's nice, I can certainly see me buying a P1 in the not so distant future

I know, my mate keeps telling me this...

What's your advice if I wanted one - throw a splitter on a TypeR?
