I currently own an Astra Sporthatch diesel but think it is a bit boring to drive and maybe slightly too big for what I need it for so I am thinking about delving back into the "hot hatch" world.

I am a bit out of sync with what is out there at the moment but the two that spring to mind are the Corsa VXR and Clio 197

If you were in the market for a hot hatch and had 12k maximum to spend, what would you buy and why?

Just wanting some ideas

Cheers

Mini Cooper S. Fast, good handling, looks cool, plenty of stuff you can do customise them if you wanted and as a bonus will hold its value miles better than either of the 2 you are thinking of.

My mate's just bought (today) a 2005 Cooper S, 19,000 miles, 1 owner, aero kit, in graphite grey with black roof etc..

Think it was a shade under £10k from Mini main dealer, its unmarked, really nice car and i usually hate minis! lol

Theyre chucking in 5 years free servicing, 12month warranty, 12months tax, 12months mot, full tank of fuel and some new mats.
Plus theyre giving him £3,500 for his focus st170!

If the Megane is too big then the supercharged Cooper S is where my money would be going, would have to be in Grey though.
