Is that the compound charged one?
Good results that! Whats the driveability like with it being such a small engine?

A 1.4 that would tear a CTR,quality.

no denying that, just thought it would be a bit closer to the max bhp.

Ben... any car that makes it's peak power figure above 5252 will have less peak torque than power.
Any car that makes peak power under 5252, will have more peak torque than peak power.
This is because the 2 figures are interlinked and are simple mathmatical formula based, not 2 seperate entities.

People forget about power delivery, gear ratios, etc...
Too many people these days get hooked on 'torque' figures and think cars will be amazingly fast.
In my opinion it just often shows people's lack of mechanical knowledge and what the actual relevance of power / torque / etc is.

People should all just realise that a turbo diesel two stroke with CVT is the way forward.

yeah really happy with the results
was expecting around 190 at the fly, can anyone reccomend mods to increase the torque? obviously not looking for big gains but a bit closer to 200ftlbs would be nice.
the driveability is still very good, car pulls all the way to the limit and spins in 3rd in the wet
best thing is i can still average 39mpg (if i drive like a granny)

more capacity
look at lightening the load on the crank, lighter flywheel & pullies could do the trick

But in most cases its true.Torque is what pulls you along the road.
Diesels are different due to the gear ratios yes,but the in gear speeds of a diesel with high torque would make the car quicker than the equivilent petrol with the same BHP.
My comment was purely based on that fact.Stick a CTR and a Revo'd 1.4 TSI side by side at say 30mph and both go for it,id bet the Golf would pull away quite easily.
Another example is say a DC2 with circa 190bhp against a Corsa XE with circa 150bhp.Both cars weigh about the same, with the Corsa probably being a tad heavier.
Talking from personal experience here, the Corsa would come out on top weather it be from a standstill or a rolling start.Why.....Because the torque figure is marginally higher for the 2.0 than it is the 1.8.
The idea for an all round quick engine is to have the BHP/torque around the same or as close to each other as possible.
