I currently have this from halfords -

Had it for about 1.5 years now and want to upgrade..

Its good but I think it lacks the all important build quality... I managed to break the biggest socket wrench after a couple of weeks

So im after a better set

Im mainly looking for a stong socket set and a decent set of spanners?

Whats the Halfords Professional stuff like would that be any better??

Budget of about £100 but not strict..

Links to suggestions please

halfords professional stuff is VERY good quality, look into that, but you wont get that much for £100

Same as mine.
Only let down is the sockets are double hex rather than single.

yeah the 150 piece set i bought about 3 years ago has a lifetime warranty, great set as above in the black storage box and the one thing i managed to ruin was some of the screwdrive sockets because i left them in the ran and the rust killed them when i went to use them again lol

i paid £150 for the 150 piece set and it was £100 for the 130 piece set but theres always offers on them

Most of halfords pro stuff is good, only time ive broke anything is when i used a 3/8 ratchet to undo a wheel nut that had been done up with a big breaker bar, I was jumping up and down on the end of the ratchet and im about 17 stone

It undid the bolt though, and halfords exchanged it for a brand new one without any questions even though it was covered in dents from being used as punch with a hammer.

I got that same tool chest for my Xmas and i dont trust it.The wooden handled screwdrivers are a waste of space and im always scared something will break so only really use it when i dont have the tools in my other 1.
This......

Also got that for my Xmas and its an awesome piece of kit,has everything i could ever need for the stuff i ever do to the car(except a big hub nut which i had to buy).Albeit i do get some funny looks when im walking along with it,its a tad "hairdresser" looking. The older model is worse tho, these have been revised.

Has a lifetime warranty on everything inside it(the torch broke and was replaced with a better L.E.D one)as long as u keep the receipt.

It's well worth getting down to halfords for the bank holiday sales. Some of the stuff is half price atm.

I've got a small halfords pro socket set and the quality is excellent. Well worth the money and I intend to upgrade the rest of my tools to halfords pro stuff when the time comes

Get a mate with a Halfords Trade card to buy them for you. The discounts on tools are amazing usually.

Halfords stuff is ok, doesnt take much in the way of hard abuse. I was only a motorcycle mechanic and managed to fuck a lot of halfords and halfords professional stuff.

I have a lot of facom stuff, its the same quality as mac or snapon but at half thr price. Id recommend a facom spannrer set, socket set and screwdriver set at the very least.

I use a mix of tools, halfords professional and Blue Point (snap on). The halfords tools are good but for tough jobs can seem a little fragile, but for general servicing they are more than adequate.

I use the blue point for more heavy maintenance stuff and have never had a problem. The old saying, You get what you pay for is definitely true with tools.
