Quite a good video of the new RS getting thrown about a bit.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=e5spO01R5mk
I know a few fwd cars will handle like that too, but i still think its pretty cool.

Fucking hell, how annoying is the wheel screeching in that video
They seem to handle very well, can see them power out of corners nicely too.

RS is not better than a GTR
the guy says it's not about how much power a car has or abot how well it handles its about how much confidence you have!
might aswell sit in a empty room whilst saying ' im confident i am'

i think that relates to how much mechanical grip these cars have, and where to safely draw the line. I.e a car will now grip more than you have the balls to out-do!!
P.s Did you really expect a £25k fwd hatchback to be better than the most compreshensivly SP engineered car availible to buy at the moment??

Yeah, i realise that, and i'm not trying to say the RS is a better car than the GTR. That would be daft.
I just think its interesting to see how they both compare on the open road.
Think about it, about 6 months ago, everyone was like, "300 bhp and FWD?! Its gonna be rubbish." But now its getting reviews saying its more fun than a 485 bhp, 4WD rocket.
Thats quite impressive. Hats off to the Ford engineers.

no i didn't i just hat it when people say
the GTR is just made to hit a 7.20 nurburgring time
when its clearly so much more.
RS will be out of fashion in 6months, GTR is a technological mildstone

The autocar article outlines clearly how people with fast road cars have "kept up" with lots of exotica tho etc....
Not as a clean cut as you may think on the road.
But as they said, on a track bye bye RS.

The driving in that first video certainly suits the styling of the car.

Yeah, because Nurburgring defines how good a car is on a road.
Your so so wrong. Do you know anything about the suspension on the focus???????
RS may go out of fashion, but the technology won't. Why would they bin the technology, thats just going backwards

Has anyone missed that this is a video, of 4 minutes, briefly going over the cars characteristics???????
If you want more info, go book a test drive. If your basing your opinion on the car in a short video, then

Unless they bin it for new technology, or when more advanced technology becomes cheaper, then it would be going forwards

No, Nurburg is a 13 mile RACE track, and doesn't have the potholes of a normal road.
Nurburg shows how quickly a production car ca get round a long race track with lots of different straights and corners.
Not how fast it gets from a-b on a bumpy undulated cambered B road.......
So that mental Supra that went round years ago, 7min 49, 700bhp, thats pretty quick...
Think it would be as fast as say a Focus RS round a nice twisty b road in Wales????????
No..
And thats what that video was pointing out. Sure the GTR does a 7.20 round the ring, but would the difference between the "Ring" times and a "B" road time be as vast as each other....
No. No-where near.

It's not a race track, it's a toll road. It's the same as Dartford Ring Road you see, everyone is travelling in the same direction as fast as they can.

Yes, thats the way car companies think isn't it..
I know, we'll spend millions developing a new suspension system, defie all previous statements about 300bhp and FWD being rediculas (yet here we are with a working road car, funny that......).
We've put it on 1 cars range, of which has just started selling.
Sure, lets bin it, put somethign brand new we've not thought of on it instead
The new technology would derive from this brand new technology. So its not out-dated, nor be "binned" as its an advancement of whats already available.
Or should they bin this new system, and go back to straight plain McPearson struts???????
Will all this happen within 6 months...
No.
I really don't get why everyone slating it. Im by far not the biggest Ford fan, but this car is superb. It breaks all barrier, all myths about a ROAD goign 300bhp FWD car. Its got a superb new system, and from teh reports thus far, a fantastic engine with power available all the way up.
Looks, well thats debatable sure, you like it or you don't.... But if your basing your opinion on a 4 min video, and what it looks like, then i've got to laugh.

Do you see a 24 hour race on the M25?
Do you see police doing speed checks on the Ring?
Its a race track oliver. Stop being pedantic.

Yes, you do see speed cameras at the 'Ring
It is a race track, but I think with the way the track is layed out it's the closest to Dartford ring road you could get.
