Whats the rules on camera vans hiding themselves behind things?!

I've no doubt I've been caught tonight at Lancaster 95-100mph on the speedo!

The front of the van was hidden by a tree, the side door was open and then the back side of the van was hidden by another tree/bush only when you got to the bridge could you make out it was a camera van!

I have no come back really as I was speeding I accept that but can they legally hide behind fucking tree's and bushes?

I thought they had to had a vehicle visible somewhere so that you knew.

all there has to be a speed camera sign somewhere on the road. not specifically anywhere, just somewhere.

legally, for legal reasons, if your speeding, its not them thats at fault is it?

Just have to see what comes through the post!

I accept I'm in the wrong for speeding would much rather be caught by a fully visible camera van than some silly fucker purposely hidding his van behind tree's!

where does it ACTUALLY say that, try proving they WERN'T?

if there is a speed camera sign, they can do what they want. sorry and all that. its advertised on road safety site where theyre going to be. only time they have to be visible is if there isnt a speed camera sign on the road.

also, not forgetting the fact 95-100mph is just silly. speed camera van or not. how daft is that?

hence there are speed camera signs on roads to warn people? much like a cctv sign in a shop?

http://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-1018143/Pictured-The-workmans-van-disguised-police-target-motorists-hidden-speed-camera.html

have a read of that if you would like. it says speed camera vans are "advised" to be as visible as possible. but there is no legal requirment. and if you look at that van in that link, its targetting people where "warning signs" were already in place.

yes they are wankers, yes its wrong, but they give you enough notification to say they might be on that road.

if you want to do 100mph, these days, well your just asking for it.

an interesting point, theyre actually no longer publishing locations of them.

also, think thats bad, try getting done doing 55 in a 60.

i've seen them running out from peoples drives, and i've seen them hidden down by i bush by my local shops with a laser.. I got nicked by a van that was hidden behind a ldv van with just a little black window and a metropoliten police sign above it, rusty old transit van.. Had one of them drive aware course's i went on so i didn't get points and they said that they have to be a perticular colour and have surten signs on it..

time to mention something here.....

someone gets done by a speed camera for doing 95-100 and its all about how awful speed cameras are. say dan put a video up about it with him doing 95-100 you'd all be on your high horses about road safety, stopping distances and how dangerous it is.

Aye you're correct about the camera sign, but how do you know that there was one on the stretch of road in question? If so, I apologise. But if not, then really I'd fight it to the death.

And yeah, 95-100 may be deemed as silly in the eyes of the law, but it really isn't that bad in the right conditions.

I don't have a high horse to get on tbh. I have a DR10 so my high horse and arguing rights were taken from me ken But I do agree that there are many who would have a fit.

conditions being a track day or drag strip perhaps? i dont claim to be no angel, but if you get caught doing the crime etc..............if you dont, carry on.

point about no sign on road. what fooken A road or motorway doesnt have one at some point? you dont have to drive past it, it just has to be somewhere on that stretch of road.

its a sad day when you get caught. but either way, if you run the risk by doing high speeds, its just what happens. imagine if a kid had stepped out in front? imagine if someone had pulled out infront? could go on all day long about it.

someone was speeding and got caught. oh no. i bet most people have 3 points or more on their lisence that they feel hard done by

its no longer a case of "if" your going to get caught, its more a "when"
