Only got the rear bumper and one 3/4 panel done tonight due to VAG paint being tough as fooooooooooooooook!

Had a scratch in rear bumper I attempted this first expecting to get no where with it so never bothered to take a picture, but to my suprise it came out a treat:

Rear bumper reflections:

Rear 3/4 Panel:

Products used were...

CYC - Kestrel DAS-6

Meguiars Cutting Pad
Meguiars #80
Meguiars #83

Meguiars Finishing Pad
DoDo Juice Lime Prime

If its another nice day tomorrow I will be attacking some more and getting some DoDo Supernatuaral over the freshly polished parts!

The paint still has some imperfections which I may give another going over tomorrow but for a first attempt on my own car I'm quite pleased with the results!

Will try get some 50/50 shots but without lighting its quite hard to photograph!

Might get one of these what was it like to use? How easy is it to burn the paint? My car is badly full of swirl marks, black too, so as you know it shows every little mark, but the swirls are quite bad.

Jay I think you would have to be a total idiot to burn the paint, it has 6 speed settings so just a case of start one 1 with the lowest cut pad and cutting compound, then work your way up until get the results your after!

I was very careful at first, just read lots of guides, information on detailing forums and youtube how to videos.

Don't be scared of it!

did the beemer last week, that took long enough.

You gotta do it until the polish breaks down & starts to go clear so your there for ages unless you do that - waste of time!

Wow looks fab! How much did the polisher set you back and is it just a temporary fix short/long term for scratches etc?

JILL

Jill its a long term fix but you can't help but put scratches back in when you wash it, no matter how careful you are!

I will only use this on the car every so often but I'm getting rid of 6-7 yrs worth of scratches and swirl marks so hopefully in 6 months time is still no where near as bad as it was.

The polisher can be had for £90 on its own, I purchased it as a kit

1 x Kestrel DAS-6 Polisher
1 x Meguiars Cut Pad
1 x Meguiars Polish Pad
1 x Meguiars Finish Pad
1 x Meguiars #80 Polish
1 x Meguiars #83 Polish
1 x CYC DA Polisher Bag

Was £140 all in I think!
