sorry but this will be my last what car thread i promise, loan has been approved so got the funds just a case of buying the right car and i have narrowed it down to the following
CTR + change left over for holiday and goodies. everyone knows about how well they handle and go but they are rather basic inside and the least equipped out of my choice.
focus st. quick and handle well, 1k gets you a montune upgrade of 270bhp that wont affect your warranty but commons cars
audi a3 3.2, wolf in sheeps clothing which is basically an r32 with an audi badge but better equipped and cheaper although doesnt sound as nice standard
something else, maybe megane r26, alfa 3.2 147 gta? blah blah
please no scoobies etc, got a quote for 1900fc on a scoobie and that wasnt even an sti!! and must be usable as an everyday car and reasonably practical
cheers

maybe, not much of a fan though and they generally cost more than the a3 3.2 and are more than likely slower

both good shouts, mondeo ticks all the boxes but is abit bigger than i need really and focus is too much of a hardcore ford fanatic car and they are in my eyes too pricey for what they are, thought that one seems abit too cheap

leon cupra r is another possibility like the ctr where i will have money left over for a holiday etc, clio v6 looks the part but i heard the turning circle is awful and that they are no quicker than any of the hot hatches on my list, so in my eyes that makes it a very expensive 2001 clio.
anyone on here had any experiences with the focus st? they seem like the best buy at the mo

if you like to get over 25mpg driving normally then look elsewhere
i average 18-19mpg driving round town but thats becaus they sound awesome as standard and give off lots of pops and bangs easily.
pretty quick, more so in gear rather than 0-60 as the transmission holds you back in 1st and 2nd gears.
will do 120 all day every day easily, scary how quick it gets there
oh and tyres don't take long to wear out, my first set on the front lasted 6000 miles (continentals) and the 2nd set are about half used after 4000 miles.
they handle a bit boaty a standard but a set of eibach springs sort that out .
270bhp available via a dreamscience remap (a handset remap that you do yourself, takes 5 minutes).
what else do you want to know?

Buy a civic and blow the rest on drugs and hookers job done
Have you driven one? If you like them they are probably your best bet. Plus if you spend a little more on one you could get a late premier one with nicer seats and all the toys like satnav and AC. So may tick more boxes for you?

sounds good, fuel isnt much of an issue for me as i only do 8 miles a day to get to work and back so thats going to apply to tyres and general servicing aswell. overall are you pleased with your st? how does it compare to its main rivals you have come across?

no as a mate of mine used to work at a well known evo garage and he told me just how expensive evos are to run and maintain.
and i know any evo is going to be more to insure than a wrx impreza i was quoted on and that was 1900fc!

no but been out in a 30th anni model years ago and will never forget how impressed everybody was who went for a spin in it that, its a car i would still consider and it would probably be a premier edition but im more tempted by the interior of an st3 with the extra goodies

Why not
I went all the down to Wales for it and went down as far as Derby for the one before that.
Gives you a great chance to see what the cars like on a long journey
