Is this just a BS figure or is that right - sounds bloody awesome to me - any reliabilty downsides, or nothing too major?

Does a remap ever provide any reliabilty downsides? I thought the idea of a remap was to make everything work better and more effcient while providing power gains?

What 1.8T engine though?. My standard BAM is 225. Should be running about 275-280 with my Stage 2 map with similar torque.
I think if the 150 has a K03 turbo it can make the same power as a 180 mapped. I think it's only the standard boost pressure that is upped. I aint no expert and only what I've seen reported before.

Are you serious?
Why do you think the manufacturers don't do it?

Probably more like 190-200. Its the small K03 turbo, so if everything else is left standard you'd make an easy 190.

Emissions, cheaper insurance for others, more durability

1.8t will see gains of 25-40bhp from a remap!
150 version won't get 200-210 just from a remap!

That'll be the reduced reliability then
Does depend on the engine though - some engines can simply be a software change between two power versions (I'd imagine the 150/180 is like this), where as others have lots of changes to cope with the power (eg the 210/225). I'm not into my VAG engines though .

I thought it was a bit optimistic! Still, an extra 20-25%'s not to be sniffed at!
I'd do well to get near an extra 10% with a remap on mine

My mate has a 150 BHP GTi, Its a late AUM engine with K03s, With a custom code remap, Filter and forge 007p it got 218bhp, Depends where you go and what map they put on,
And yes it puts more strain on the car, But not that much really as my turbo on mine (also K03s) doesnt seem to be working at all, When i had the trial remap the car felt like the turbo was working as it should be, its like they have capped the boost a lot at the factory, They limit power in the factory for other reasons mainly like Insurance groups and emissions, Thats why the corsa sport engine is held back to get it a lower insurance group than 106gti's etc, Could easily be group 12-15 with 120/130bhp

Awesome GTi offer a remap to 196hp or 207hp depending on the date of the car. All 8L chassis though.
It seems to have a very good response across the forums

I had a trial from there, But i wont be going back £431.25 inc vat is a bit daft, Custom code seem better and for £305 inc vat you cant argue, But if you look about you can get maps for more like 100-150 but cant see em being any good,

get on this website and start buying yourself some goodies!
http://www.xs-power.co.uk/index.php?main_page=index&cPath=37&zenid=1ce64e2e48b2b192a1e09734c21ce8be
as for just a map 190bhp is safe but it will still feel restricted up the top end because of the small standard turbo.

Yeah I went for the Custom Code Stage 2 map. It's not as aggressive as the Revo or AMD maps. Still have the 30% discount on at the mo and
power is just there all the way to the limiter
