Random question i know.

Was pulling onto a duel carrage way, in the fast lane as there was a lorry in the slower lane, and i had some tit in a focus ST up my arse, less than a meter from my rear bumper. But there wasnt much i could do with 1.6 POWARRRRRRRRRRRR. So i thought of upgrading the engine!

So, as the title, is an XE faster than an ST

have had a play with an xe nova and it was dead level.

the focus weighs over 1400kg's compared to say 1000kg for a corsa.

well yeah the focus has 6 gears compared to 5 in a corsa (if you do't change to 6 gears) and shit loads more torque/power when the turbo kicks in at 4k.

Ill have 2 yrs ncb next month, so will take a look into it, it seems worth it for the added power, just the time and £ spent on doing it, im not going to get anything near what i paid back when i come to sell

wouldnt condone it atall but if some twat is driving less than a meter from your bumper try brushing your brake pedal with your left foot, people soon back off.

afraid your just like most other young drivers and will have to wait to get the quick cars .

theres a huge flaw in your outlook.

You will never make ANY money back on a modified car.

Get it prepared. Prep work....

Weight, brake upgrade, suspension upgrade. SO many thing you can do before sticking £1k's worth of engine conversion and over doubling the power....

Chassis strengthening kit?
4 pots?
Coilovers
Roll cage
Stripping the car

Theres a few grand spent for you already.... Work on the power later...

Or miss it completly and buy a better car with more power, thats more easy to get more from.

In this credit crunch n all that.....

Sod an XE, msd spec 2.5 v6 or a 3.0 - 3.2 V6, about on par power wise then but much much lighter. Coupled with a 6 speed should see off an st to a good 155+
