tight budget maybe the 2.0 8v then make sure its the c20seh one though, unless you can afford the 16v.

a 2.0 8v isnt exactly budget compared to a 16v :/

They are both very cheap.

Bang for buck 2.0 16v - just dont expect to set any lap records on twisty tracks

Or you could learn to not 'blow them up' first

An XE Corsa on coilovers and decent tyres isn't bad for handling.

I went through a few lumps in the early days, just had a bad run of bottom ends!! That and snapped head bolts!! But got it running sweet as a nut in the end. Which is typical as I then went and bought an Astra

xe's are alright for track, but not the most reliable.

threw a rod through the bottom end 3 weeks ago

head went last week along with 16 bend valves

this week it seems ok, minus a dodgy lifter.

Its hit and miss really

They are like your parents. Eventually they will get old and need more looking after.

Not sure how a full rebuild fits into that analogy tho lol

I did loads of trackdays in my old corsa, was brilliant and never really let me down. Not like some of you are describing anyway! Handling was not the best, very snappy. But that is down to it being a corsa, not what engine it has.

If you shop at Harrods!!! My XE cost £150. My mates XE cost £150. My other mate got an entire 16v Astra GTE for £167!!! and then another for £100.

You need to look a little harder
