Hi Guys

Me Needs Help

When I bought my speedlines from Wheelbase a few years back they came with Hankook Ventus K102 (budget I know) tyres. I was able to lower the car as much as I wanted with these. When they needed replacing my local tyre centre put on Federals but the tyres were welded to the arches. We measured them and even though they were all 195's the actual difference was amazing in that the hankooks were actually under 195 but the fererals were over 200 wide due to the alloy protector. They managed to get me the K102's again but this timae around they are saying they are not being made anymore but the k105 which replaced it has an alloy protector on it.

Any recomendations as to what would be a tyre that would suit my needs..

I'm really stuck...Cheers

rainsport 2's pretty sure they dont have rim protector. but seem to be in short supply at the moment.

Plenty of people lower on Rainsports, S-Drives and F1's with no trouble.

was just about to say s-drives aswell. havent tried f1's personally yet. id pick rainsport 2's over f1's anyday.

no rimprotector on them

not sure what you mean about them being in short supply though - i ordered a 205/50/R16 yesterday and had it fitted today

well all the uniroyals ive seen lately are either rallye 550's or rain experts which are a new pattern. saying that not had many lower profile uniroyals in for a bit maybe just not been ordering them.

How come you pick rain sports over f1's? Iv got f1's on at the moment but they need changing soon as getting low so was wondering if any other good ones worth going for, obviously road use only wont be doing tracks or any think like that

ive found f1's to get bald quicker than rainsports. also in the dry, the rainsports are pretty good. in the wet theyre worlds ahead of the f1's (maybe why theyre called rainsports lol) and theyre cheaper in the first place.

i have a few mates that do tarmac rally night stage things. they changed from f1's to rainsports and never looked back.

i've heard falcons are quite narrow.. I know alot of people use them in the vw scene (mk1 golfs etc)

thats more to do with the sizes they make them in though id say. can get falkens in all sorts of weird sizes other companies just dont make

Muppet, do you rate Michalin Pilot Exaltos? I currently have 1 on as need to replace and have toyo proxies and wanted something different, seems to be hard wearing but can't judge anything else with it being an odd one.

uniroyals better than eagle f1's? blimey there are some crazy people about, yes they wear better but surely grip is the issue, no?

the falcons are narrow but grip wise they arent that good, the 512's were very narrow and were a favourite amongst the people going low years back but technology has come on since then.

michelin are the top brand out there purely because they spend far more than any other brand developing but being quite a wide tyre are no good for slammed cars.

Mine was on its arse on Goodyear eagle F1s, didnt scrub. Was ok on my proxies aswell.

yes had both, had the uniroyals on my s2 rst and wasnt impressed atall. the eagle f1's gave superb grip but wear on the edges quite easily.

Didnt read all of thread - Go on ebay search for toyo proxes by a company called topgear Two 195/45/16 for £95 delivered and they fit alesio's perfectly and sit in the arch nicely. hope this helps
