If I bought a car a fair distance away with a genuine intention to bring it home straight to an MOT testing station, prebooked MOT and genuinely insured.

The car has no tax or test.

And I mean I would acutally put it through the MOT when I got back, to see waht needs doing befor having a retest.

if you have an mot booked then they cant do anything can they? as long as you got a reciept sort of thing to confirm your appointment. what car is it?

Technically there is nothing illegal about it though is there?

Bit difficult when your young and can't hire a trailer isnt it, t'otherwise I'd do it!

If the car isnt taxed then you cant legally drive it on the public road Pre-booked MOT or not.

The non-mot thing should be ok. But there would be no leniency what so ever for lack of tax.

You can drive a car to a pre-booked MOT with no MOT or Tax, but you MUST be insured.

Wonder if I drive it down the road and pull something out, get the RAC to recover me home

Apart fromthe driving to a pre-booked MOT rule.

YOu can drive an untaxed and unmot'd car to and from either a prebooked MOT test OR repairs for an MOT test.

But they might say something about it being realistically close. I remember when my corsa had been off the road for a while and i drove 40 miles to an mot centre, just stick to the back roads. Its definitely something fun though, ive never kept such an eagle eye out for police vans

Dave you actually can't drive a car on the road without tax, full stop The mot thing will be ok, and obviously insurance. But the car is illegal on a public highway with no exceptions when it's not taxed.

pow, id say 190miles is a bit far tbh, but may be worth the rac thing (but make sure its something they cant fix at the roadside otherwise your back to sqaure one
