Just thinking on really.

I have a few paintwork problems with the ibiza (nothing out fo the ordinary for a 7 year old car!) plus the bumper is hanging funny/is very scratched.

Would you spend ~£500-600 on getting it sorted then know that your car is absolutly mint on the outside or would you leave it?

I wont list them all, but there are 6 items of paintwork that need addressing.

Bearing in mind I might not be holding on to the car, but having this work done would it make it easier to sell or not be worth anything?

Im in the same position except my car is 2001 so a bit older and worth probly half

It will make it easier to sell as its 1 (or 6) less things for people to use to barter the price down, but there is always something someone will spot to try and get the price down

edit - answer for the original question ( ) in my situation I probably wont, might try and get an insurance job on it will be difficult on a front bumper though

is some of it dents and scrapes or are you just talking scratches?

I wouldn't bother on one of my cars but they're rarely worth as much as i imagine the Ibiza is.

Umm i'd alue my Ibiza as £3500 now, tops

2 deep scratches, 2 scrapes and 2 bits of surface rust.

All 6 not my fault

Wouldn't bother.

If you're thinking of selling on, people are going to know there's going to be little dings and scrapes on the car, as it is 7 years old.

Dunno, but its petrol and 535 miles to a tank might not be good enough for you

(That was 50mph on the motorway, london and back on wales petrol )

If you are keeping the car for a while IE the next few year's then yes. I intend on keeping my astra until VXR's come down to about 7k. I have minor blemishes that i want done asap even though most people would not even notice them

I wouldnt bother getting it done mate. You'll park it somewhere in slough and find the word cunt engraved on the side....well exageration but you know what i mean.

Mines already suffered dints in the doors and rear bumpers being touched by "L"'ers....you'd regret it tbh

I'd spend the money on making a car mint if it was a appealing car such as astra VXR etc

For a everyday Diesel your market is generally going to be people who need something ecomical for commuting etc so are not goign to be bothered so much about scratches etc

Something I just thought about as well, as soon as you get it done someone will come along (accidentally or on purpose) and do something else so no point

I'd leave it tbh if I had no intention of keeping it.

Tell them deep scratches = less paint -> less weight = better MPG

are you going to chop it in or sell private?

if selling private they just do the more deeper stuff...

when we chopped in the vectra for the pug he did not even bother going outside to look at it! !!

If your selling no. If you want to keep it and have it right then go for it.

Ideally I need to respray the front end of my car, but frankly its £500 or so that I'd rather spend having fun.

If you're selling it then hell no. You won't make the money back that you're putting into the repairs.

But tbh, I wouldn't be fixing it anyway, that money could be spent on power!
