What are Vectras like to leave with everyday?
I was looking at 2.0 Turbo diesel ones..
around 1997-2001, is that Vectra B?
are they generally reliable?
cheap parts?
what is considered a high milleage?

Thank you!

By 2litre diesel I take it you mean the 2.0DTi. Not a bad engine, I heard it isn't exactly nippy though.

I'd get an Astra with the same lump in. Dannymcann (sp?) has one.

Vectra is a good step down from the Omega

My only gripe with them is they drive the wrong wheels...

Well i have looked at Astras (post 98) and i didnt see too many diesels.. mainly 1.6 petrols..

according to Parkers guide the 2.0 DTI is 12s 0-60... but i know that their info is not always true so..

Nic, is yours diesel or petrol?

The diesels are pretty solid engines...

tbh I wouldn't touch a Vectra on 100k if you're living on a tight budget.

my 12volt shed is on 100k... so i think that bigger sized engine plus being a diesel engine should last longer..

as things such as wear and tear... dont think its a problem to do really!

Me too, bought as a runabout as i only use it at the weekends. Good MPG, comfortable cruiser on the motorway and still has a good bit of poke for over taking etc..
Had it for about 8months now, no problems so far, only done 45k though!

+ coding remember. If you get a reconditioned unit, it has to be in delivery mode (de-paired from previous engine) for it to be paired up. Tech2 job, can't be done on the cheaper readers

Also nothing wrong at all with a 100k+ Vectra, or any other 'big' VX...

Looked after, good for 250k+ easy.

My two V6 Omega's are both on 180k, and there still running like new.

You need to get a good one. Just had bad experiences with Vectra's on 100k plus. And as said, parts to replace are expensive. Things will naturally start to wear out.

Yes, my 12v is on 90k BUT I've done 30k of that.

please try telling taxi drivers 100k is high mileage on a vectra diesel. i mean honestly, modern engines arent like 1980's ones.

Fuel pump yeah, but there a worst case scenario failure (ie, petrol in diesel, or constantly running the tank dry)

Normal day-to-day consumables are cheap enough

diesel egines, yes even the gm one are hard wearing engines. theyre built to be. not like a 1litre 12v petrol engine, so saying yours has done 90k on a 1litre isnt even the same thing at all.

I'm just going on the only experience I have of a Vectra. It was ok, just could feel it had done 100k and the first time we used it, it let us down.

And I am speaking personally. Other peoples circumstances are different. Jeez.
