Just think how different you'd feel if you'd killed him. You've been lucky (even if its no fault of your own).

£60 excess will leave a smaller lump in your throat than if youd killed the kid.

Glad the kids ok and damage to your car's not too bad!
I may be being ignorant here as I don't know the full situation, but kinda fail to see how you managed to hit him? Did he literally walk out in front of you with a couple of metres to go or something?!

i saw him walk behind a roadworks sign so i slowed down to about 25mph looking for him and he just ran out infront within few metres
slammed on the brakes but not soon enough

That's something I'd never want to happen, if a kid walked out in front of me I'd be shook up for ages, even if they were ok.
I was driving through a town once and apparently the kids of this school are known for playing chicken with the traffic, well one kid actually got hit. Don't know what happened, but I drove past a junction and there was a car at the top and a kid on the ground.

Stupid cunt. Got what he deserved for not looking where he was going.
Make the parents pay, and compensation for trauma
Say its been very distressing for you, and you feel very unsure about driving again.

Thanks for explaining it better - I wasn't being a cnut at all, just didn't quite understand the situation! Hope it hasn't shaken you up too much matey, and get his parents or him to cough up as it was his fault

nah no worries
better to get the whole story
nah im not really shaken about it, just want to make sure the idiots alright
and aslong as they dont try and sue me for anything stupid ill just leave it
rather pay £60 excess and get me car back on the road then £700 excess to get the front end repainted and windscreen fixed which costs less to get done outside of insurance

take the kid's parents/guardians to small claims court to cover the windscreen excess. no fault of your own so why should you pay up?
stupid kid doesn't deserve to live if he crosses a road without looking, been in a few situations where i've had to slam the brakes on and it's not a pleasant experience.

I agree, just because it's a kid they still have a responsibility.

nah ive had enough of small claims court
there shit!
my ex gf smashed my car up for no reason, took her too small claims court 2 months ago for £2200
im still waiting for my 1st payment
they said she can pay back £40 a month
thats going to take 4 years 4 months to pay back!
so im not going to bother with £135 in court costs for £60 really

That reminds me Ben, some idiot in the other village that thinks he's all that walked across a ped. crossing when I was approaching, doing 30, and I slammed the brakes on and only just missed him, and he started shouting saying to watch where I was going. Wish I'd have sped up into the idiot, everyone hates him but himself, and his chavvy friends put on the act too, but they're not proper friends. Grr, sorry for ranting but I hate him so much
But then in the pub or whatever he doesn't have the stones so will almost act like a mate. He wants his face punching in.

It's when they are wearing nothing but black at night that gets me, and then wonder why I haven't seen them

This is my biggest fear when driving. Other cars don't worry me, it's kids! Round here they have this air of arrogance where they seem to think cars will stop for them. I live by the local high school so at lunch times they all walk by my street and if they are in the road(even the busy main road) they just saunter across. Drives me bananas.

tbh if someone walks out into the road and gets hit, its there fault. Cars = Road, Pavement = People. Simple. Cross at crossings, or if its clear. People often walk out infront of me and expect me to slow down, why should i.....
