Just wondering who saves money and if you do how often. Interested to see how everyone else does things!
Also state what percentage of your wage or an actual figure if you feel comfortable saying.
I have been pretty bad up until now I have just stuck £500 every few months into my savings but nothing regular. Spend a few hundred each month on, well basically crap I dont need.
I still live at home and had a sort through all my incomings and outgoings last night. There is no reason why I shouldn't be able to save about 30% of my wage every month. Time for a bit of reality check/economy drive for me I think!

Not at the moment as the money I would normally be saving is going on debts, should be clear in march though and I'll be putting a chunk of my wages in each month

I have a house.
There is no room for saving.
Previous to that, I had a car, a loan, and a bike, a loan, hence no saving then.
I've always spent what I earnt. I see my house as my future bank balance
Living at home, or renting, and i'd be rolling in it

No I have 7k to pay off at 0% apr before I start saving!
Saying that I do spank £600 on my mortage alone a month!
As VXr said, if I lived at home I'd be rolling in it!

I signed up for a thing on the bank where when you spend money on your card, it rounds it up to the nearest pound and puts the change into my savings So if I bought something for £9.50, it would put the extra 50p (rounding to a tenner) into savings account just added it up, comes to £4.42 so far, since October. Not a lot, but it's better than nothing.
Try to save properly as well though, but I have very little spare cash at the moment.

Spend £1000s a month on bills and living so don't really bother saving anything. Got plenty of assets should I need to raise cash at any point which are worth more than savings in a bank.

If you have a house I think thats fair enough as a mortgage and bills will be a big chunk of most peoples wages. I very much doubt I will be able to save once I get a house.
I dont really have that much in the way of financial commitments apart from my car which is why now I've stopped and looked things I'm a bit pissed off I haven't saved more already than I have done.
House is what I am saving for now. I have a bit but need triple it to make a decent deposit!

Not really, all my wages go into my account each week. I spend what I want, sometimes I'll blow it all and more, sometimes not so much. I do have some money saved up already though.

Focusing on paying off debt before saving.
So I should start saving circa 58 years old.

you can only put £3600 a year into an ISA cant you? So you wont be able to pay anything into it after 9 months

at the moment i am saving around £1600 every month plus paying into my pension...
ionly started savig about 4 years ago and that was only ivesting in share schemes at work. although up until they crashed i had done pretty well out of it.
i have just learnt how to live without spending all i earn it is possible you just have to be a bit more careful when in the pub.
