Just had a conversation with a friend of mine who was changing his job description.

His price went up by £150 just beacuse he wanted to change it from a store worker to IT consultant

He has only been with them for 4 months so is going to say bye bye when their offices open again in the morning.

Anyone else had things like that happen to them?

Yup. Barwork is an expensive group. Due to the risk of alcohol and driving

Have a look on the Moneysavingexpert Car Insurance section. There is a bit where you put your job down, and it gives you a list of alternative job titles that are cheaper to insure, but which are the same job.

Its just goes on how they judge various types of jobs, Im guessing all insurance companies use a very similar equation when working out the risk so doubt he will get much luck elsewhere.

Electrician is the highest in the sparky field, electronics engineer usually works out 100+ cheaper a year, well, it did for me.

An electrician isn't even close to an electronic engineer.

What you think the postcode group is and what the insurance class it as are probably 2 completely different things.

The postcode list on here doesn't hold true for me or anybody else i've compared it with.

Surely "Police" would lower the insurance quote, on the basis that a copper is perhaps less likely to speed as they'll lose their job?

Claims for a respray once car has been keyed, etc would probably put it up.

I've played about with a few and they make little to no difference.

Change of postcode will be whats caused it.

Tell your mate to phone up his insurers and ask why? I guess he could programme a virus and send it to his car!

He originally got re-quoted on the change of postcode and there was no change when that went through.

He then went on to change his profession.
