Has anyone got any experience with them? I'm looking at the 231ps model. They seem quite capable, and have full leather, sat nav and all that malarky, rwd and a lsd so I'm told? Anything in particular to look for? etc.

Shit on fuel...shit on oil...not that fast...high mileage needs new engine or rebuild...not that fast.

On the plus side they handle well and are a lovely place to be inside..also they look nice on the outside IMO.

By the way i used to work at a Mazda dealer.

Might need to save up a bit more but what about a 350Z? Great to drive and it has a proper engine, you know with pistons that go up and down

It's generally believed that they handle better than the RX7, but lack the grunt of the turbocharged motors.

As a piece of design they're excellent, but if you want reliability and low running costs then a rotary may not be for you.

Having said that, Mazda have made massive improvments in the design of the 13B, so they are better than the ones in the 7s. Mazda USA was even offering an 8 year warranty on their cars.

Prove the fact that they need a rebuild?

Im sorry but this is a pointless reason for arguing a mazda performance engine when scoobs and evos and what not also need rebuilds constantly!

a friend of mine bought one with about 55k on, all was well for a DAY or so, noticed it was down on power, burnin more oil than fuel.

turned out it was some diamond tips or something like that and cost a fair whack to fix.

sold it straight after that

I've given up arguing with people who just regurgitate "facts". If you had a 1.3 piston engine that revved to 9k and produced 300+ bhp and lasted for 60k miles you'd be over the moon

Mine only popped due to poor maintenance (read "none") by a previous owner. And even when it blew, it still did a thousand miles and 1 1/2 laps of the Ring.
