I bought myself a pressure washer the other day to obviously use when washing my car. But I've spoken to a few people and some have said that they're no good for the paint work in the long run. Then again, I have had people saying it's all b*llocks and using them is fine.
Just wanted to get some opinions on this from the detailing chaps. My car is going in for a big body work job next week and full respray so if pressure washing it will ruin the paint, I'll take it back.
Cheers lads

That guy with the ultra clean nurburgring astra, does he use a pressure washer? I cant see it doing any harm.

I was thinking tis earlier, surely if you wash you car even twice a week it would damage after months or so

Using a pressure washer wont harm your car. But using a sponge can. Its recommended to use a lamswool wash mitt, as it wont leave swirl marks.
Then just wax as normal.

Its safe, just dont point it directly at the car from close range

Even if you do it from close range it won't do any damage unless you've got dodgy paint, in which case something else would cause it to come off eventually.

Its perfectly safe, how do you remove all the grit and crap on your paint if you dont use a pressure washer ? Just rub it in and make lovely swirls with a sponge ?

Woooah hold on, I thought you weren't supposed to use a power washer 6 weeks after having a re-spray/paint job?

i've used my pressure washer karcher thingy on my paint and stripes and nothing has come off.
stop worrying and just do it.
the only problem you will have is it you have flaky/cracked paint.

I wash my car at work with a Deisel powered pressure washer, rather a big one, wash it once a week, sometimes twice, and have had it about 8 months now, not a problem.

Seriously, using a hose is not going to shift anything.. your just going to make lovely swirls on your paint if you dont pressure wash first.
