1.0 12v's do tend to use more oil for some reason,
I'd also check the oil switch at the front of the rocker cover, it's probably leaking there

Mine chucked out half of the oil when the oil pressure sensor was leaking, but before that and after it was fixed it never moves. I usually get 350-380 miles per tank so somewhere round 35mpg probably.
Daymoon, I know someone with a 1.4 Rover as well, I don't know how much mpg he gets but I don't think it's very good, he's not the best driver ever imo, and tbqh weighs a lot He wants to replace the cone filter with the standard stuff to try and improve the mpg
The shiny thing on the right of this pic is the oil pressure thing, check to see if that's leaking. It will have oil all over the bottom of it if it is. Cost me like £6 or something from Vaux and it's a massively common problem, the guy knew exactly what I wanted when I went in

There you go then mate. Get up to your local dealer on Monday
I just found the receipt on my desk £7.40 inc VAT so a tiny bit less now.
P/N 93190643. Or just tell him your Corsa has an oil leak and I bet they'll know what you want

If it wasn't the switch, iirc the handbook says 1litre of oil every 1k miles isn't uncommon.
MPG wise, can easily see 45mpg. May be more. I'm beginning to think when ever I've worked mine out, I've done it wrong, because I never get as low as people say.

MPG is:
litres used / 4.5 (to get gallons used)
miles done / answer to above - mile per galloin

I normally multiply litres by 0.22
EDIT: Phewwww, I was right http://www.hintsandthings.co.uk/garage/fuelconv.htm
