Looked at several options since I've sold my old sport just want to know what they are like to live with. Mpg? Tax? Common faults, things to lookout for etc

Thanks

Perfect for daily driving mine got used every day to work and back!

Its only ever as fast as you drive it, you don't have to go flat out everywhere, but its got enough power to give you a big grin when you do!

Happily sit in any 30 / 40 / 50 / 60 zone of cruise them M'Way at 70 if you want it to!

found mine very very useable.

you can literally just drive it like a diesel, changing up around 2.5k and when you need the power its there

parts are very cheap for them and keep them serviced plus maybe the odd sensor here or there and thats your lot, wouldnt cost any more then a sport in terms of maintance

There a great engine for a daily driver.
And in a light car like a corsa can get very good mpg when driven lightly.

Go for it Pete.Youl love every minute of it.

However, make sure its been done decent with good shocks and the correct poundage front springs,or you will hate it.The ride on soft springs gets a bit annoying.
They are good on fuel when driven easy. However my heavier Mk3 Golf 16v with around about the same power,is MUCH better than my old XE Corsa.Just for comparison sakes. But the price of fuel the now is cheap,so go indulge in some XE love.If you dont like it,just sell it on.

guess it depends which exhaust system you go for, i went for a fairly quiet system with a very discreet tail pipe although it was a 5 door sleeper badged up as a 1.2, had endless fun in that car

are the 1.6 sports not in the same tax category as a 2.0 anyway as they are mostly pre-01, insured as a cav gsi transplant and not even that much of an insurance hike either

love mine even in a fully strripped corsa i can live with it everyday, fast when u want it, but love the fact i can leave it in 5th and let the revs drop down to 1k, take corners and roundabouts without changing gears lol but i am lazy

Sounds pretty damn good! As long as the conversion has been done correctly it'll be a brilliantly daily car. Enough oomph if you get a bit mental, but can potter along at buggerall revs and gets decent mpg. The one you're looking at in our Region is perfect
