TBH I understand it from their point of view,
In Case 1 - Everyone asks for a flat bed as people think that there engine is always blown, The AA Patrol needs to inspect it before it is ordered onto a Flat bed. Flat beds cost the company a lot of money to order out.
Case 2 - Not all vans are equipt with A frames simply due to the Vans design or layout etc. Presumably an older van picked you up. You have no choice in the matter unfortunately.

Ok, i probably wasn't specific in my previous post.

When the decision is made to send a van or truck its based on the the principles of is it something a van can look at and possibly fix or not.
Gearbox's blown are defiantly not something that can be fixed on the side of the road.
But "A blown engine" in the words of the public, might not necessarily mean a blown engine to a mechanic. When you speak the operators, they dont know your level of Mechanical intelligence so unfortunately have to treat you like a dumbwit.
I hope that makes more sense???

If they did to everyone, they would just employ flatbeds... Remember "Everyone" needs to be at the destination 10 minutes before they set off, so when a breakdown occurs, its the "most worstest mega breakdown you have seen"
Blame the non mechanical minded people! for spoiling it.
