Cos a 106 is a french tin can, a corsa isnt.
Although, it could handle the same if you put 106 floorpan on a corsa body

of course you can make corsa handle as well as a gti, people rave about them because yea they do go round corners ok but it's also about the amount of feedback they give which makes them fun to drive. You have to be pritty confident though to control the slidy back end

if you got a corsa and did the antiroll bars etc, it would handle much better than a gti

Standard to Standard the 106 is 63mm lower than the Corsa to start with.

You do the same kind of suspension set up on the 106 and then you'll find out that they are the dogs bollox lol

I think people are confusing mechanical grip with handling here. You can make a corsa go round corners the same as a 106 no problem, fuck me throw some R888s on it no doubt it would spank it in terms of speed. But thats not what handling is. When you drive a 106 GTi on a good road properly (throwing it round a roundabout in your local town center at 2am is not properly) it is a whole lot of fun, you can really spank it around and take some ridiculous liberties. The steering is perfectly weighted and offers bags of feedback, the brakes are strong and the engine is really nice and revvy. All that out of the box, no messing.
So, no you cannot make a corsa handle like a 106. You can make it as quick as one but the person driving the little french tin can will be having a lot more fun.

Having owned a corsa and 4 106s I can confirm that the 106 handles remarkably well, my current 106 has been extensively modified to improve the handling - billies, eibachs, polybushes, lsd, arb is standard. Its fantastic, and just so much fun and fantastic on the smaller circuits especially. You shouldnt compare a corsas handling to a 106, alot of it is the chassis design as previously stated. Of course its possible to make a corsa handle better, although the mods you stated arent enough. Maybe with a wider track.
