well i've just borrowed a very large welder from my mate and it seem's i can weld 
any welder's out there that wanna give me some helpful info and tip's on getting better 
i now think it would be a good idea after new year to buy my own

mig i had the sunglasses on but wont be doing that again lol need to get the mask off my mate before i get arc eye

Aye get the mask on before you get burnt, or as you said, arc eye and completely fuck your sight It depends what you're welding! If you're welding a plate somewhere for example, you're probably better to just tack it in place first, then take your time to make sure it's done well! But obviously getting a random panel from the scrappies and practicing is a good idea

Mig's good, probably the easiest of the three.
What kind of welds are you doing? ie, 90* plates, pieces beside each other etc?

Tell me about it. I thought it was like someone had got a small funnel, a bag of sand and just filled up the bit in behind and on the surface of my eyeball with it Not a nice experience.

Ive been on a evening coures learning to weld & its not all that easy at all. Sure its fine being able to tack together 2 large bits of metal but once you get down to the thin gauge stuff its very difficult trying to make a neat job of it.
Only tip is to practice practice & more practice.
Ive been having a go at Gas, MMA, Mig & Tig. Mostly interested in Mig though so been maily putting my efforts into that, with a little bit of gas / brazing aswell.

try different settings, amps/ wire speed, keep a constant hand speed to. penetration is the key without burning holes in it.

wooooooooooo chill out this post has been made for hints and tip's not a let's get pissed off at a guy trying to learn something he's never tryed in his bloody life!!
go get pissed off somewhere else mate cause i don't have time for it!!
all i need is tip's on how to get better not a slagging match with someone who think's they know or can actually weld!!
as i said i need helpful tip's and knowledge not a random thinking he's better than everyone

What sort of stuff do you want to end up welding? If you want to do body repairs then id get some scrap panels like mentioned before. Just give it a blast & see how you do. You'll find on anything as thin as car body thickness you'll struggle to 1. not blow holes & 2. Not warp the panel with the heat!!
Just keep at it, practice is the key to welding. Its not something you can pick up & automaticly be good at.

As said practise is the only way to get it mastered as best as you can. Hood's are only there to save your face and neck from ray burn which is just the same as sunburn as mentioned but as long as there is anything between your eyes and the arc then you shouldnt be getting arc eye. Mig is fairly straight forward as long as your current and wire feed speed are set correctly for the job
