A county mounty car followed me for about 5mins into a retail park as i was going to do a bit of christmas shopping then pulled behind me.

They stopped me because my sidelight bulbs had a blue tint to them whicj means they are illegal, then said did i know my window tints were illegal?i said i don't know they were on the car when i bought them the radioed for another car to bring the gun to measure the tints on my 2 front windows but luckily the other car was busy with it so they couldn't prove that they were so got away with a £30 fine thank god.

Then just as he was about to walk away he then asked if my pressed plates were reflective and they are then so been a little bit lucky today i think but was advised to remove the tints because if if i get stopped again i will get a £30 fine but dunno if i should remove the tint until i get stopped again.

what do you think i should do?its taken them 6month to pull me for them even tho iv pass cop cars just about every day.

I think they just pulled me because they had nothing better to to tbh.

Front tints are illegal. If they are tested you'll be asked to remove them at the side of the road.

That's all fair and well that they LOOk similar. But you couldn't possibly look at them and say that they are legal. The tints on my old Saxo looked lighter than that and they were borderline illegal. I got off with it on a light test because they weren't actually over the limit, but on it!

Only pic I have here but you get the point.

ANY tint above factory on the front 2 windows is illegal. FACT

Window Tints
As of January 1st 2004, new legislation was brought in that prohibits window tinting.

The Law:

You are not allowed to tint your windscreen or front windows AT ALL. Anything forward of the B pillar (middle of the car) MUST NOT be tinted in anyway. You are however still allowed to perform any level of tinting on your back windows.

If you've tinted you windows before January that does not mean that you are safe, if the police believe that your tint causes reduced visibility they can issue you with an order to have it removed.

Why was this law brought in?

The reason this law was introduced was that there was a serious accident between a motorbike and a heavily modified car with very dark tints. It was believed that the root cause of the accident was that the driver couldn't see well enough through his tinted windows.

Some more info for you:

As of January 1st 2004, the owner of a vehicle that has tints applied forward of the 'B' pillar is liable to be challenged by either the Police of by an Inspector from the Department for Transport's Vehicle Inspectorate, where their vehicle is notices being driven on public roads.
Where such a vehicle is stopped and the window tints applied are such that the visible list transmission level, when measured using an appropriate device, falls to below prescribed levels, the following enforcement guidelines have been agreed with and recommended by the Government.

Above 30% Visible Light Transmission (Less severe window tints)

The driver or owner of such a vehicle will be required to have the tinted film removed from the window under the direction of a rectification notice or a prohibition notice. A period of grace will apply for a limited number of days (normally ten) during which time the vehicle may be driven whilst the rectification work is to be completed. In either case, the vehicle will need to be inspected by a Police Officer or Vehicle Inspectorate Office to confirm that the glass has been restored to a compliant condition. Prosecution is unlikely in such circumstances provided the vehicle owner complies fully.

Below 30% Visible Light Transmission (Excessively dark window tints)

The driver or owner of such a vehicle may be issued with an immediate Prohibition Notice and immediately prevented from driving the vehicle on public roads until the tints have been removed and either a Police Officer or Vehicle Inspectorate Office confirms that the glass has been restored to a compliant condition. It is also possible depending on the severity of the offence, that the owner may be prosecuted for driving a vehicle in a non-roadworthy or even dangerous condition with the potential for penalty points and a fine.
Driving such a vehicle on public roads before the tints have been removed and before a Prohibition notice has been lifted will be a serious offence and the owner or driver is likely to be prosecuted.

really?

German License Plates are NOT legal on British registered cars on U.K. roads.

All our plates are sold strictly for show use, and for using off public roads.

You will have seen many cars with German Plates on (The M20 is full of them - but they normally are German Cars), but you take the risk of a £30 fine if stopped by the police, but no points on your license yet!

The above is for UK cars only, please check in your country what is and what is not Legal before ordering

I take it your plates have GB stamp on them then?

As Dave said

Any tint on the front windows is illegal

Up to you if you want to run the risk of being stopped and fined again
