Oh, I agree. But it isn't like other people facing redundancy at the moment, is all I mean.

Serious question: do the Honda F1 cars have VTEC?

That's mental! They only just spent a fortune on wind tunnel and stuff!!

I bet their sponsers won't be too happy.

Even though they were doing shit lately, it still got their sponsers names on show - and the sponsers happily funded more money towards development in the hope that they'd be sponsering a winning team.

Oh dear.

I can see more teams leaving. The cost is bloody stupid for a season, most car companies are losing money, does F1 make them anywhere near what they spend?

When the belt tightens it'll be things like racing teams that go under IMO.

They don't really have any sponsers, its run by Honda. Thats why the cars not covered in sponsor logos, just the panet earth.

I think its a huge shame, sure Honda haven't been good the last few seasons, but I thought they started work on their 09 car very early this year knowing the 08 car was sh1te.

Big shame for F1, the question is, will more follow.........

Yup, in sponsership. Its how F1 works.

We're talking Millions just to put the name on the sidepods etc..

Top teams are spending £400million odd per year, that all comes from sponsership. Thats how a team becomes profitable. Its a business, a race team is a business, and it has to be profitable to be carry on racing.

It's such a shame as Honda have spent the whole dev time of 2008 working on next years car, they've been putting all their effort into next year and I believe they'd have come to the grid with a competetive pair of cars.

All gone to shit now though

Button may end up testing next season, but he'll get a 2010 seat no worries.

Honda are for sale for £1 actually

And they are still sponsored by BAT just don't display on their cars but they aren't as heavily fudned as say McLaren

IIRC we pay $25m a year to sponsor McLaren.... was double that for Ferrari

I used to work for a company that was sponsering them, so that's what my reference was.

SEIKO.

but yeh you could be right, when they did the earth shit I think a lot of the sponsership moved to the drivers (clothes / helmet) - the lollipop is the only other thing I think they sponser now?
