why are their capacities mostly odd numbers
1.3 / 1.7 / 1.9 / 2.7 ect
just wondering if there is a reason behind it

The even numbers seem to be slower too...

And the Vauxhall 2.2DTi is crap
Drove both

There can't be any practical reason - only from a marketing point of view so it is 'obvious' whats a petrol and whats a diesel.

Probably makes it easier for people at dealerships/parts etc if a customer comes in and says they have a 1.9 they know it's a diesel straight away?

Yeah but theres the likes of 1.9 petrol 205's. The moral of the story is "Buy a petrol becuase they sound better"

My 1.7D Combo is fairly nippy, wish it was a TD though.
Not sure why they are odd numbers on older cars and even numbers on newer cars though.

yeah the number is to do with engine cap, nothing to do with if it's diesel or petrol, thats stupid!

No it's not
I go to work in one every day and drive it regularly and nippy is not one of the words i'd use to describe it.

Ive driven a 1.7D Combo once ans swore i would never drive 1 again. Not if i was in a hurry anyway.
Saying 1 is slow is an understatement.

I cant imagine driving a 1.7d, the 1.5/1.7tds are more then capable when they have the boost turned up

My girlfriend has a 1.7d. And tbh its not quick but it does the job giving it death arounud town. Never attempted to go on a dual carridge way in it or anything, only to the shops. But its quicker than a 1.0 and a little bit better on fuel, whislt i think being alot more tougher!
