Last night i shit myself...

driving down a winding road at 20mph...i hit some ice/diesel/something slippy...my car slid to on to the wrong side of the road going round a blind corner...of which i was meet by a BIG van...i steered into the slide...then back to the other side...where i started sliding to my side of the road, where the van was all most beside me and about to hit i managed to steer again...toward the oppsite side to kinda stop me hitting the van/kerb...

I AM SOOOOOO GLAD I WAS THINKING FAST! and did not brake or accellerate...but just steer if i was going faster/he was going faster or i just steer just at that point or loads of didnt things would have been a head on collison or even worse van into my door

F**K ME! i was lucky...and i was driving sessibly and paying full attention at the time!

please be carefull all, could have been nasty!

my gf cannot believe i managed not to hit the van or mount the kerb flying onto the pavement...so in a way im pleased in my driving abilities of last night and also cannot believe the car/van/anyone was not hurt

You did the best thing there! Most people panic and hit the brakes or just let right off the power both of which upset the car even more and just put you further in the doo doo..

When you are in a situation where you have lost traction the easiest thing to do is to dip the clutch and let the steering wheel go slightly lose in your hands until you have regained traction

I managed to go about 50 meters this morning sideways and even maneauvered around a frozen pile of horse shit. I love being the first to drive down the shitty country lanes here when it's been snowing

I agree though it can be very scary if it catches you off guard

Like the retard in the M3 yesterday who saw fit to try and race me up the A329 sliproad and he clearly run out of ability very quickly and started to go sideways in heavy traffic.

I had a moment yesterday, it was the only time I have ever had a propper panic in a car, I was doing 15mph and there wasnt another car in sight

up a single track road 18% slope and about a 20ft section had froze, traction light started flashing and I ended up sliding backwards till I hit the unfrozen part again, being a single track I couldnt turn round so I took a run up and gunned it over the icy part, I honestly though I was stuck there

Couple of Sundays ago I went to warm the car up, was taking it nice and steady from some lights where I was turning right, 10 - 15mph and the back end slipped out a little bit, steered against it Forza style and regained a bit of traction to carry on. Wasnt a nice experience though tbh, got some funny looks from people waiting at the 2 opposing sets of lights

Not quite the same but whenever I go out in the day either a woman in one of those big Focus's on her phone or an old man in an Astra tries to have a head on collision with me

keeping your abs on is a sin. tut... and you call yourself an enthusiast

i always turn mine off whether it's rain or shine as i find it scary when the car cuts the power rather than myself. i control the car, not the silly computers.
