Top Gear Sunday 30 November
80pm - 90pm
BBC2
5/8
Gentlemen of a certain age may remember the fanfare in 1976 when the exciting Rover SD1 was launched on the market and was cool for about five minutes. What I never knew was that this stalwart of 1980s police dramas was loosely (very loosely) inspired by the infinitely cooler Ferrari Daytona, which turns 40 this year. The anniversary is an excuse for Richard Hammond to take a Daytona for a spin in its natural home, the Riviera, where he tries to beat James May and a multimillion-pound powerboat in a race from Portofino to St Tropez. DVDs are never available for TG but it sounds like a recipe for Bond-esque high-jinks. Meanwhile, back in the studio (and postponed from last week's programme), grand designer Kevin McCloud is the Star in a Reasonably Priced Car.

I liked it when Hammond was destroyed by the unstoppable single decker, and then the other bendy powerslid his 2nd half into him
