It due to Gavin having a straight through exhaust with no centre box. This eplains the lack of torque as well.

I was there with the FFOC Ben and a 2 focus STs went on one was completely standard and made 240bhp the other was a pumaspeed tuned one that had boost issues and was supposed to make 350bhp but only made 224bhp

Dasteks rollers are pretty accurate so i cant see Ecks CTR being optimistic.

the only way you can compare two cars is to put them on the same rr with the same air temps etc

Its a totally different kind of car, people go on about the Leon being to big and heavy to handle compared to the CTR but the only difference is the weight as the CTR is about 130kgs lighter, they are both near identical in lenth.

Its the way the power is delivered that sets them so far apart. The Leon is just sooooooo effortless in its power delivery from way down the rev range it feels like its not even trying where as the Civic feels really gutless below 6k rpm but I gotta admit once you hit vtec (god I hate saying that lol) its an animal but it always sounds like your racing the arse off itto get it to go anywhere.

You can see from the chart above where vtec comes in you really feel the difference.

I'll post up a pic of both graphs for the Leon and the Civic just to compare and for people to have a gander at

Civic Type R

Leon Cupra R
