Just fitted a nice piper silenced decat to my x16xe scorpion system and its sweet. Frees up another 5 horsies or so. Paid £104 from piper, best buy if you ask me! Decat with no silencer will be raspy and if you go cheap with the sportex silenced one the baffles go after 8-9 months. I have noticed my revs are so much smoother, in traffic in 1st has drastically improved

can be silenced or straight through

baffles dont restrict
The decat itself is flared out to 2" bore inside aswell then back to standard to fit onto the rest of the normal system or in my case a s/s scorpion system.
My standard cat was raspy as fuck so i got a silenced decat else it would still rasp AND it looks like its still got a cat on it

One end has bolt holes that bolts to the down pipe (i replaced the springs with ridged bolts to get a better seal, no need for flex) and the other end is a sleeve fitment.
Also the cheaper ones generally dont line up very well as ive been told. The bloke in my local garage was reluctant then i told him how much i paid for it and he was amazed, slid in like a ........... perfect fitting exhaust section

Just a normal exhaust clamp, you can use the one that holds your current cat on.

For a de-cat?

My college tutor said its easy just to get a piece of scoffolding, weld a flange on, drill holes out and bolt it on

Well either go for a standard decat which will be raspy and cops will spot as having no cat or pay £104 (which includes postage) for a s/s one with silencer and looks to have a cat and fits perfectly. Its your choice and your budget

Why is there no need for flex? The whole idea of that flange joint is to allow the engine to rock back and forth under load without damaging or stressing the exhaust system, which you have just stopped it doing.

I hope you're not serious about a 2" diameter flare looking like a cat either - did you see the size of the standard cat? It is normally about 4 or 5 inches across.

No problems at all, along with other people that have done it.
Also i meant the inside bore of the decat being 2" and there is a baffle box on it that looks like a cat. Its not just a pipe.........

How many cops hear a loud exhaust then go looking under your car to see if you have a cat?
