Does it sound right that a generic mapping device called a Dreamscience could improve the bhp of a standard Focust ST by 50bhp without any additional mods.
I have been told to expect an increase of around 40-50 bhp from a full decat exhaust and Remap on my scooby.
Just wondering if it sounds right.

the dreamscience product is great, were a master dealer of it we have seen some good results with our custom tunes on the st225. a generic map from dreamscience will see about 270bhp and 330lb ft.
they do products for the vxr range aswell, just waiting on them to release to software so we can custom tune them

I watched a dream science demo on both an astra VXR and a Focus ST. They claim good gains and infact deliver said gains. Can't remember the exact figures but from one map yes there are significant increases

I'd personally stay away. Been good for the Ford boys up to now, already been a lengthy discussion on VXRonline regarding Dreamscience, not good.

OJC, interested to hear that, u2u me a link...
thing to bear in mind is the product is awesome, but its the same with aaftermarket management, all down to the mapping.
we have done alot of work on the ford range of products, including supercharging fiestats bigger injectors etc all on standard management

i am on page 7, from what i can see no problems with maps just vxr people don't agree with having to set it back to standard before it goes back in for warenty jobs.

That is the point exactly though Mark, how would Vauxhall or Ford know if there had been an engine failure when Dreamscience stance is "totally undetectable" It's fraud, they are selling a handheld unit and telling people that if it all goes wrong, let someone else deal with it.
I'll let Mr John Thorne summarise
I've kept off this thread for obvious reasons but since we've been mentioned I would like to clarify a couple of things.
1. TMS will never engage in commercial conversation with any company who's stated idea of warranty is "take it off, let the manufacturer deal with it". In my book its fraud pure and simple and I have my own self respect to consider, I am not a liar.
2. Anyone can create a product/service and sell it, its success can be measured both in terms of numbers sold and also by how much after sales support that is given (ie warranty). Any supplier of any product who states that the warranty is basically none - just hide it suggests to me that the product itself is poor. I mean why worry about creating a map that is safe for the engine when the advice given to anyone who buys it is "don't worry, take it off and someone else can deal with it"
3. We had a meeting with Vauxhall about this very subject and the statement from Vauxhall was pretty damn clear. Since the proliferation of hand held devices the incidence of warranty claims has risen significantly and Vauxhall are not happy. Its not for me to discuss any outcome Vauxhall may decide to take on this but bottom line:
If you have a modified car, expect each and every trip to a dealership for investigation work to be taken a lot more thoroughly, DS concept of "dont worry, take it off and they will sort it none the wiser" will simply not cover you. Be warned."

Surely if its the map that fucks the engine up then its whoever has put the map on shoud fix the resulting mess.

sorry Ollie, i wasnt saying what they did was right, i was mearly seeing if there had been problems with their maps.
i agree using what they did as a sale pitch is no morally right, and its not legit in the eyes on the law.
being a dreamscience dealer and a superchips dealer we know what works and what doesnt and what sells and why! a big suprise if superchips, people on forums slat them alot, however we sell alot of them, they are expencive BUT they offer warentee.
a point to remember is we use the dreamscience product on the ford scene as a tuning aid, not a plug and p[lay device, when used as an aid the results are great.

not the case unfortunatly. if you had your car mapped to suit your modifications and a con rod snaps, whos fault is it? the supplied of the con rod, the engine builder or the mapper?
alot of people say the mapper as they touched it last.......

plenty of do gooders on vxronline by the looks of things, if someone thought a map fucked their engine on a new car (with warranty) I cant see them taking it back to vauxhall without returning it to standard if they had the facility to do so

But this is the advantage of using Thorney Motorsport for VXR tuning, they aren't just a tuning specialist, they are a Vauxhall dealership with ties into Vauxhall. They offer warranty work on all Vauxhall models, from sorting out that sagging leather seat to complete engine rebuilds.
It's that reassurance knowing that if you have a Thorney Stage 3 Astra VXR with manufactors warranty remaining, they will replace your turbo if the turbo goes.
Dreamscience run the risk of hoping nobody spots the map and take it back to your local dealer.
If your car is outside of warranty and you prefer the Dreamscience unit then yes, maybe I'd consider it. But for me personally which I stated at the start of this thread, I wouldn't touch Dreamscience.
