I was filling up this morning at my local Shell.
Prices are 95.9 for petrol, 102.9 for super and 108.9 for diesel.
Same story everywhere else though, why are diesel drivers still paying 10-12p more a litre? When petrol was 95p a litre before, diesel was 97/8p?
Is there a reason behind it or is Gorden Brown gay?

I paid 107.9 last night which is the best I've seen it for a while.

I better add there are some exceptions on small islands like Corssica where Diesel oil is the main fuel import so you pay a premium for petroleum.

What he's getting at is that when petrol was 102p, diesel was 109p
Now petrol is 95p, and diesel is still 109p

Surely with paying more on Diesel, the money you saving getting more out of a tank, you spend extra on filling up?

Kyle, when I passed, 2 years ago, diesel was 92.9 and petrol 90.9.
Now we are nearly at those prices again with petrol, why is diesel sofa king expensive?

Found this
"....diesel isn’t actually as cheap to produce as some people think, at least not the modern “clean” variant anyway. Although diesel requires less crude oil per litre than petrol does to produce, newly established standards for lower sulphur diesel require a more complex refining process."

Makes a bit more sence. I wonder if it's the demand for diesel.

Something to do with Diesel being a bi-product of petrol or some shite!

Would probably be a mix of what Ellis said (source of that quote ellis?) and the hugely increased demand recently for diesel (basic supply/demand economics)

There is also more tax on diesel, any other reasons are just trying to distract you from that.

Plus, North Sea oil if that's what mainly used here contains much more of the short chain molecules that give methane up to somewhere around pentane IIRC and there isn't much left for refining into diesel, so it has to be imported from the Middle East etc as their oil is a lot 'thicker'
