Went to the scrappy today for a look around, see if there was anything decent to fill my pockets with anyway came across this red Nova, got closer and had a look around and the car is in really good condition its a E-reg Antibes, and has rev counter, SR style interior and steering wheel which are all spotless.

So get under it check chassis legs, boot floor, suspension turrets and there isn't any rott anywhere on it it has original stickers original everything.

I'm thinking that this has been scrapped by someone who hasn't a clue as the engine has seized or simular. Would the scrappy let someone buy an entire car from them? Or is it to late? Will it have been registered for scrap?

If they let you have you send away for the V5 and if the owner doesnt reply then they'll send it out (i think).

My dad worked for a recovery buisness and thats what him and his mates done if the cars wernt claimed.

Yes you can purchase a scrap car, but they will not be able to provide you with a V5 and you will not be able to get one from DVLA so if your planning on breaking it then yes i dont see the harm

When my dad done recovery, the runarounds with no tax etc which wernt claimed he would apply for the V5 from the DVLA and if the owner didnt reply within 2 weeks they would send it out.

Oh, I wanted to put it back on the road It's moving down the queue to get crushed, they crushed a Nova GSi a few years back just as I was about to have it

can you not get the car a new identity? I.e if you bought a brand new shell, then is the chassis number different? Apply for a new one~? Or is that just baltently dodgy

Buy it, & buy a bashed/rotton one, clone the shell!!

I actually know someone that done this when he rolled his SR nova!

You could fit a tow bar to the Astra 'Ring and buy a trailer then use it for track days

I have a track car, but the C16XE feels far to lethargic in a Corsa compared with the Nova.

It still had wheels on, only thing missing was one of the headlights, had a brand new exhaust on it as well

buy, use it to reshell a rotter..

if you use enough of the old motor, then you can keep the old motor's id tag's iirc - could be wrong though

It makes me cringe seeing these mint shells disapear because of engine failure, especially a 1.2 8v FFS
