This weeks car of choice is a new BMW Xdrive3.0d.
Very very good car, although the steering and feel of it is a bit heavy and too progressive at times. The styling isnt to every ones taste, but it seems to work imo. The interior is completely comparable to a 6 series (4 seats), as is the whole design concept.
Rear view will annoy some, although it has proximity park distance - so no issue.
This engine is no slouch, although the one to go for would be the Xdrive3.5i imo.
The pictures probably dont show how big this thing really is. mg

I probably would too, although this seats 4 and the X5 seats 7 (optional extra) - so this product is aimed at a different target audience imo.

A coupe 4x4 that will be crap offroad and too unpracticle to be a chelsea tractor? that car still makes no sense to me.
Byron, what market are they aiming this at and how well are they selling?

Retaining current BMW owners with downsizers, sideways buyers and upcomers, along with people that may have been attracted to your typical 4X4 from other premium brands but dont require the seats/excessive space imo.
It is selling in small volumes afaik, but this was never intended to be anything but that. I think the sales will increase, much like when the original X5 came to market.

Dont see the point in that at all.
If you want a 4x4 GET 1, if you want a sports coupe GET 1 - dont get an inbetween!!
Should never have made it past concept car!

Look at the new Volvo XC60. Thats a bloated focus
Colin - BMW have created a niche segment. I think it will do well. The original X5 was a slow burner too.

They look ok from the front cos they look like the X5. But go past that and its rank! I'd definately be buying an X5

A couple of Directors at our place have just got these as company cars. As Byron says the pics don't show just how big it is They look much better in the flesh and the ones at work have got bigger rims I think which look better imo.
Still marmite though.
