i think they can see your status even if you aren't friends with them. unless i'm mistaken? like you said though mate, best to just not write anything incriminating. that reminds me of my mate who was seeing 2 girls at the same time for a couple of months. he then wrote on facebook about how hard it is to keep the other one secret. he is no longer on facebook.
