Quick note coz i haven't been on for weeks due to working in Slough
I sat my AST for joining the RAF last wednesday in Manchester. I passed with flying colours, no pun intended. lol.
Went for weapons technician and got well over what I needed to. I needed 60% across all subjects and got an average of 74%.
Pleased as punch
Got my interview on Monday morning

don't do weapons tech! Do airframes or engines or avionics. You gotta think in 9 years when you come out what will you do for a job. There is no demand for it. But good luck for monday. Raf is great life. Get into the motorsport at wherever you get posted

Yeah i've spoken to a few people and they love the life. You get an NVQ level 3 in Engineering for weapons tech. Aircraft Tech is my second choice, but I have time to see if i want to be interviewed for that too. Thats a level 3 in aeronautical engineering. As for coming out in 9 years, nah.

Nick, WSO is very hard to get into. You need to have 5 GCSE's above grade C, including sciences and also a degree in Physics. 20:20 vision aswell.
I looked at that too.

My bad..........taken from RAF site.
Qualifications you need: 5 GSCEs/SCEs at (Grade C/3 minimum) or equivalent to include English language and maths
Although i'm sure when I enquired they said about Physics or science in some way. Thats one of the best jobs you can do. You learn to fly and are basically the pilots boss

WSO dont learn to fly, your not the pilots boss, your just in charge of an aircraft on a particular route
