My ins at 21 was £800

I only had mine with a full Blueflame, Courtenay Sports Cat and Regal pre cat and a wallace performance map was just over 240bhp

Realistic mpg - dunno bout 40/50 miles to a tenner of v power

well its cheap enough, so

will be a run around over winter, and will prob sell at a profit

if i was to get it

whats cheap mods?

2.2 airbox or air filter?

front mount worth it?

wind up boost on actuator

dump valve (i like the sound)

remove precat and cat, striaght through with just a backbox

remap to suit 240bhp?

arnt gsi's alot more to insure? over the sri and coupe too?

mine ran 240 and was poop on fuel. It had a crap range and lifeless handling.

Great cruiser, very refined and extremely comfy. Reliable too

it did handle, had plenty grip, torque steer was controlled, it just had no soul. Everything is fly by wire and you can tell. Like playing gran turismo.

Fadders will back me up on this he felt the same.

arent they only insurance group 15? so insurance at 20 im going to guess around the 1k mark.

a friend had the 1.8 model and i thought it was a nice car to look at, be in and drive just wasnt a car that asked to be pushed down the back roads and you never took the long way home.

when i looked into the turbo model the general picture i got was they were quick and fairly cheap to maintain, just rather thirsty

My 03 GSi is currently sitting on 32.4mpg thats giving it some stick now and then, think it handles quite well but as said its loverly to cruise around in. Have recently put a FMIC and 2.2 box on it and it pulls lots better. Feels well built and safe makes a nice sound when you shut the doors lol

i rarely saw mine either of my old astra's see over 30mpg

not really a good car at all really
think back now and ask why i wasted the money on either of them
insurance at 19 was 1200 on the SRI T same for the GSI at 20

but for abit of fun over the winter i spose it wont be a bad toy, and if it breaks your the man to fix it lol,

i wouldnt say they were the ideal run around car!

They are thirsty IMO, i used to get betweeen 18-26MPG usually sitting in the middle at around 22.

Also if its a run around the turbo wount like short journeys, if its already seen a few in its time it may well spit its bearings out!

But that could be solved by adding a VXR turbo, and other tuning wise there are loads of bits out there, but once you go past the 240bhp range again the turbos are said to struggle!

and if its a winter car get a GSi with full leather, ummmmmm heated seats

Don't need a dump valve, The Z20LET has one integral. Only really need an additional one if you are going above 250Bhp.

Own an astra GSI 53 Plate Full Leather, Good cars, Coil Pack chucked it on mine, Handling aint the best... Not the most Torquiest.. Only has 184Lb/Ft (Don't look at it and go 250Nm)
