Got a £2500 cheque burning a hole in a very deep pocket.
Considering geting some engine work done on the car. I am quite happy with it just being basically standard at the mo but it does need a rebuild for next MOT.

Full rebuild is also required as it smokes abit-
management/mapping benefits and costs.
Already have Mantzel and fannymould.

Well the car only does 5000 miles a year, primaraly just too and from trackdays of which I do about 6-8 a year.
Do people think I would be better of just getting the engine rebuilt(I think the rings are on their way out) and leave it at that.
I am quite happy with just my 120bhp and if I didn't have the dosh would just be getting it rebuilt.

Alturnativly, if you love your car and want to keep hold of it, buy a low milage x16xe bottom end, and do the work as described above

If you really want to stick with the corsa then just XE it, for the money you will spend tuning the 1.6 you could XE it and get far better performance, or sell the GSI and poole the money together for a different car as Fad and AK said. I would be tempted to get a phase 1 clio 172.

2.5k is a lot of money to plumet into a car where you could buy something more track oriented even without the proceeds from the Corsa

ARPS- £100
Metal rollers- £100ish iirc
Verniers- dibilass ones are the one you need, not sure on price
Cams(what profile?)- 264 from schrick or similar
Full rebuild is also required as it smokes abit- use a good condition x16xe bottom end, then just get the head overhalled
keep standard managment, and you will have a fun little car, for not nearly as much as you might have spent

True.
But thats what I have maximum to spend.
The problem is the mrs knows I have the money and has seen a "nice ring" and a "nice holiday we could go on".
I do need work doing to the engine and would it be a viable/worth while option of doing extra stuff while i'm at it.

Its one of those situations you need to thik whether you want to actually progress onto something else...I stuck with my Corsa for 7 years and spent buckets on it as I though it was really good value performance per £.
In all honesty my opinion is just as valid as Jr's as I have done the whole building thing you just have to do what you feel is best in this sort of situation as I can clearly see the Corsa has sentimental value.
Sentimental value can sometimes get in the way of common sense

I've never really thrown any sort of money at this car, bits have been done for a reason WHEN i've had the money and at the cheapest price i could get.
But common sense says to me that with a morgage, spending out on another car that only does silly mileage a year is pointless and to stick with what I already know/ have got.

Well I think everyones is a bit of this and a bit of that at the end of the day, it should of seen a track day with all the bits it had on it but unfortunately it never did.
In all fairness Jr's is going to have some shit hot spec but with no disrespect I dont think that will see much trac action even though it had a heavy track spec I am sure it will more used on country lanes around Brands Hatch 
Mine may not of seen a track but it plenty of runs at Santapod though
