very vague description there which i can't see taking off really. as mobby said, only good for first time drivers at 17 who get their mum and dad to buy their car.

Bare in mind you pass your test at 16 over here and all you have to do is drive in a car park and have several lessons in school.
Good idea in the states.

Its actually a good idea, I havnt read it all but i would imagine the different settings to be in different keys so the young persn couldn't change the settings manually in the car?

i'm sure they could get the code one ay or another.
or some tuning company will just mke up a map that over rides it, like usual.

Take the other key?
Learn the code? There must be some authentication for the parent so they can change the settings, just learn that.

I would image that the settings are contained within the key.
The parent will have the master key and using that key will be able to alter settings for the restricted key.
Its not entirely secure but it sounds like a bloody good idea!
The majority of speed limits over there are 55mph on the free ways so it makes sense to limit the car as there is no need to be doing twice that!

i can see this working in america where kids drive younger than they do here, where its also mor ecommon to share a car between the household than for everyone to have their own
