When my car sale fell through, my mam loaned me the money I was going to get from the corsa, so I could still afford the new car!
I've finished paying her back but want to get them something as a thank you, without their help I would have been up shit creek!
Was thinking a weekend away for parents to some where like a village hotel / spa but not sure any suggestions!
Not just a thank you card and bunch of flowers, want them to realise I really appreicate it as I hate borrowing money!

There's one thing being gratefull for a loan, but a family or freindly loan is supposed to be a cheap one.
By the time you've sorted them a weekend away, wouldn't you have just been better off getting a 'proper' loan.? (not that i know how much you borrowed)

I borrowed £4,000 which she took out the bank next day, no way I could have got a loan that quick, then I wouldn't have been able to repay it in 2 months to a bank!
Even if I pay for a weekend away hotel and money for a nice meal £100 - £200

Weekend away sounds spot on - if not, just the nicest meal/restaurant you can find around your way plus a taxi so they can both have a drink etc

You repayed £4000 in two months and you had to borrow money. Surely if you had £2000 a month disposable income you would save some for instances like this?
Im only jealous

IMO a weekend away is a bit OTT, when my Nan loaned me some money (which I am still paying back), I bought her some smelly soaps shit as a thank you.
A nice gift will show your thanks, large bunch 'o flowers sonuds a lovely idea.
Failing that, a meal out IMO.

0% interest loans are what parents are for
What about going taking them to a nice restaurant? Still a nice enough gesture as long as you dont end up in pizza hut plus you get to eat some nice food too

Pampering day......
Your dad won't really mind, your mum will love it.
Spa, massage, relaxation day etc. Even better if you get 2 passes so she can take a friend.
Your dad will suffice with a free trip to the pub, or get him an action day.

It's his parents though not some stranger. If you feel as if they'd appreciate it and you can afford it then go for it, there's more to life than money.
I could live to be 100 and never pay back everything my parents have given me personally.

Guess some of us have more respect and better morals towards our parents. Some of us arn't take take take. Some have reached that stage years ago, and now are in the position to give as much back as possible.

Fuck off, Daimo. Being a parent, i'd never expect anything in return from my daughter. Maybe I just have folks that don't keep tally charts of money they've spent on me. Guess i'm lucky.

Maybe they don't EXPECT it, but as a son/daughter, having your parents give you all your life, at some point you may grow enough to realise that it would be NICE to give back as much as you can.
My parents have never kept anything so lame as a "chart", but i dont care as i'd like to think doing nice things for your parents is a way of saying "thanks for bringing me up, with morals, decency, respect, and i'd like to show my appreciation by doing nice things for you as now i can afford to do these things for you"

There is also that the parents may not accept the offer if it costs too much, most parents would rather their kids kept there own money for themselves, and anything over a nice gesture, such as a meal, flowers etc, they may be reluctant to take

So you don't feel that it would be nice to say thanks in a more special way? SHOW your appreciation a little.
Nothing needs to be expensive, or big, or flash, its the thought that counts.
Just imagine if you mum got a nice big bouquette (?Sp) of flowers delivered to work with just a simple card saying "thanks mum" and a short message.
A dad is harder to do the emotional stuff for. But mothers love it. ALL women do.

See my above reply. Small things that are well thought usually make far more of an impression than a big flashy gift.
